I would love to give this hotel a higher rating particularly because of the friendly, nice and helpful receptionists, but there were just too many issues that night which made my stay not particularly restful. When I checked in late in the evening, it started with payment by card not working - luckily I had enough cash on me. When I got to my single room, the room safe was locked. This bothered me, as I like to use the room safe (particularly during breakfast), and it felt also awkward as I didn't know whether it might still contain belongings of a previous guest, so I asked reception to please open it. A very friendly receptionist did her best trying to open it, twice - first she appeared with a key, then with some electronic device, but both didn't work with that particular safe and she said that probably only a technician (not available at this late time) could open it. So I asked for a different room, which I got immediately - in that room, the electronic room safe was open, but it didn't work! I didn't want to change the room again, so I told reception that I'm going to live with that. A bit later I noticed that the remote control for the TV was missing, but I didn't intend to watch TV anyway... On top of all that, the defective room safe started to make annoying bleeping noises all night through. Though my sleep was quite disturbed by this, I just didn't feel like complaining to reception again (also, when I called them to report the missing TV remote - I said that I don't need one, just wanted to report it -, they first thought I was in a different hotel, as the reception manages several hotels in this location). But in the morning, when checking out, I mentioned it and showed a video of the bleeping safe to the receptionist, and I not only got a sincere apology, but also a partial refund. So, I can say that I do not have a particularly good experience with the hotel as a whole, but I appreciate the efforts of the receptionists and am even willing to give this hotel another try, as I think it has potential and could be a good classic hotel with a bit more attention to maintenance and infrastructure of the rooms.…
This hotel has seen better times. The rooms have very high ceilings but small rooms, the carpets, window treatments, and linens are worn and outdated. Our shower doors did not open properly and the shower head leaked. When we arrived, the reception staffed seemed very overwhelmed because our reservation was for four rooms. Although polite, they seemed very confused and registration took very long. On the bright side, this hotel has a great location, right next to the train station and to the tram hub. Therefore, it is very easy to move throughout the city on public transport. In addition, I want to recognize Danielle (spelling?), who manages breakfast, for her outstanding service and sunny attitude. I also want to recognize Macu, at the front desk, for her professionalism and welcoming personality.…
Amazing food, one of the best cuisine I tried in Swiss. Friendly helpful staff and great service. Congratulations for the kitchen and especially for the chef Jovan. Hackbraten with potatoes purée and mushroom sauce was so delicious. Fantastic food experience. Recommendation for this hotel and their excellent cuisine. You have to try something from their menu.
We chose the hotel for proximity to SBB as we were taking morning train direct to Zurich airport for return to U.S. It was very hot and humid, and…the A/C did not work. They graciously and promptly moved us to another (upgraded) room. We were away from the street and slept beautifully for 2 nights in cool comfort. The restaurant is a little expensive, but a huge MIGROS is close by in the Bahnhofstrasse, with anything you might want to eat. A plus, the Markthalle, which is like a giant food court, is only 2 blocks around the corner. We were more than satisfied.
I wrote to hotel three weeks before my arrival to demand the room on the quiet area (like recommended) but I got the room at the noisy tram street on frost floor. If you are light sleeper be sure that you repeat your request several times… very much disappointed
Unfortunately, we were not able to stay due to airline and cruise cancellations. They refunded the money to the credit card promptly. I will stay with them when we do get to visit. We were looking forward to our stay in Basel but will have to wait. Be Safe.
This hotel is in a great central location right nr the main station and tram stops. Friendly staff good restaurant very nice and quiet rooms a good place to stay in Basel to a reasonable price as well.
What a wonderful surprise this hotel was - being so close to the main railway station I was a bit worried that it might not be the best place to book, but I can tell you now that Hotel Euler exceeded all our expectations - beautifully maintained and decorated, spacious rooms and very comfy beds, excellent and friendly staff, a lovely bar and restaurant and a large outside terrace to have a few drinks and watch the world go by. The on site restaurant, Caspar's, serves delicious food which is beautifully presented. Thank you to our wonderful waitress Diana for your excellent service during our stay! The location next to the SBB is fantastic for the trains to take day trips and the trams to go into the city center. We received a transport card from reception with check in which meant that we could use all the city trams and trains for free during our stay. We took a day trip to Luzern which was wonderful. On our departure the Airport Bus stops a few meters from the hotel, is free and takes you straight to the airport. We will definitely stay her again should we pass through.…
The hotel is located near the station and is about 10 minutes walk to the city centre. The bed was very comfortable and bathroom modernised with a super walk-in shower. Big TV in the room and a good in-room dining menu. Breakfast offered plenty of choice, hot and cold.
The place is beautiful and right next to the station, you have access to all public transport, great value for money and beautiful food. I went on 1st of January the team are very friendly and lovely to ask for recommendations around the city
