Detailed Reviews
I stayed in the 6 bed female dorm.
Positive sides are that there is an individual locker for each guest in the room with a key. The bathroom is located outside the room in the corridor. In this corridor, there were bathrooms for men, women and mixed. The same for shower. The showers could be locked privately, this is good. The staff was very helpful and found a way for me to leave the luggage after check out and pick it up later. Internet worked well. Problematic was the fact that there were not enough power sockets into the room. There was a multiple power socket but it was not turned on. The cable was under my bed and I could not reach it to try to plug it somewhere. The location is good as you can reach the train station on foot, I did this with heavy luggage and survived. Many tram stops nearby too. Kitchen is available as well.

We arrived late but we got a great welcome and and had a pleasent chat with friendly host in the reception. Staff is calm and professional and help with everything ! Rooms are clean and so are blankets and pillows. Baths and toilets are clean and offcourse there are water on the floor and some minor detailes when a lot of people share facilities. But we will come back if we return. The neighbourgood is close to the station, the Tram is just around the corner and the old factory that host the hostel is a creative space with bars-restaurants, climbing facilities and much more. The hostel gives you a free Basel card so whats not to like, and we can recommend to do as the locals, to jump in the Rhien and follow the stream along with the rest of the city. So a great stay for a family of 5, parents and 3 kids 5-12-15

Really great hostel for seeing the sights of Basel. Location was close to the Basel SBB train station and trams going into the main part of Basel. You can also easily walk. I stayed in an 8 bed female dorm, which had comfy beds. Each bed has it's own locker assigned with key provided by the hostel. There is a good kitchen with a fridge for guests to use, as well as table space to sit and eat. Showers are spacious and not on a timer. The Basel card they give you at check in is great for discounts on museum tickets and free public transport. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable and checking in was straightforward. I would recommend as a place to stay to explore beautiful Basel.

Staff are very friendly and helpful. Great little bar/table area downstairs to relax in. I was surprised that I could choose a double bed in my female only dorm, that was a nice bonus. Not all beds were doubles though! Hostel is slightly out of town but easy to get to the tram and the Basel Card is fantastic as it gives you free public transport. Toilets are very clean and the showers look clean and also have locks which is great.

The location is very good, 10 minutes from the train station and 15 minutes from the center by tram. They give you a free shuttle card for the entire stay, including roundtrip to the airport. The staff very friendly and you can leave the bags before and after check in. The room (female 8) spacious, with plug near the bed and lockable locker. It doesn't look like the pictures or clean. Good heating in winter. Nice and comfortable common areas. Cold shared bathrooms. Ok beds and soft pillows.

There was no one at the reception. There was no answer on the phone. No way to make a reservation online for the same day.. We were left standing outside at 23:00 at night. We needed a place to stay really badly with an injured leg

Nice place, cool warehouse arty surroundings, good location for station. Shared bathrooms and reasonable price considering this is Switzerland. And I have to write 200 characters minimum so that's what this is to finish

The hostel is housed in an old factory building, and this is visible throughout the hostel. Great care has been given to decorating the place. The rooms are big, and you have your own locker with a key. Showers are clean and spacious - enough hangers for your clothes and a small bench. The issue the reviewer below talks about appears to have changed - there are separate male and female areas now. Rooms look onto a courtyard, so no street noise.
The hostel is not in the centre, but only a 10 minutes walk from the railwaystation. Staying the night in Basel means you receive a free public transport pass during your stay. Trams 15 stops next to the hostel, which is very practical.
I have only one negative comment: more care should go to the breakfast - it is not worth its money. So I'd advise booking without breakfast - there is a place to have breakfast next door.

I stayed here for a couple of nights in an 8-bed dorm (although there were only 3 other people in the room).
When I arrived, they gave me a travel card, which allowed me unlimited use of the trams and buses whilst I was there. It's a couple of minutes walk from the hostel to Tellplatz tram stop, where you can take the number 16 int about 10 minutes. (You could walk if you wanted to, in about 25 minutes.)
There's a bus from the airport to Basel SBB train station, which only takes 20 minutes. From there it's just a few minutes on the tram (number 16, again) to the hostel, or a 10 minute walk. This is also the station to use if you want to take a train to Lucerne (which you should, even if just for the day).
The bedroom was clean and it was quiet at night, and each bed had its own large locker. The showers were also really clean, as well as powerful and hot. There's a communal kitchen so you can save money and cook if you want. (There was a sign saying you can use herbs from their garden, too.) There's also a communal dining room and a sort of lounge area.
The staff were friendly and helpful. And there's free wifi.

We were only here for one night unfortunately (definitely need to stay in Basel a bit longer next time!) but were very impressed with our stay.
We were promptly given an upgrade to a private room upon arrival (we had originally booked a dorm room). The staff are very friendly and the room and toilet facilities are clean and very nice. (The decor is also very cool!)
The location is superb (5 minutes to the tram and 10 minutes walking to the train station) and the hostel itself is actually located in a very cool/trendy complex with cool restaurants, workshops, etc.
Would definitely recommend – it's great value for money and I wouldn't hesitate to come back again.
