Beautiful location, scenery, and sunset! We were super happy with our room and cute balcony right outside our door, service was good, and it was a short ride to the city center. We would recommend it to anyone!
Wonderful stay at Castello di Monterone! The excellent customer service started before we even left the US. I had many questions and all of my emails were answered quickly and patiently, giving me all the information we needed for our stay in Perugia. When we arrived the Castle was everything we expected it to be. It is a beautiful property with the hotel functioning within the original walls of this ancient medieval castle. The service is wonderful at every level, from reception to housekeeping to the restaurant. This 18 room hotel is immaculately taken care of inside and out. The grounds of the hotel were beautiful with areas to sit and walk and a pool and hot tub to use. We also enjoyed a lunch and a dinner at the Gradale Restaurant located at the hotel and enjoyed wonderfully prepared dishes ie. potato leek soup with porcini mushrooms, buccatini with mushrooms and prosciutto, Sea Bass ravioli. The complimentary breakfast was also served at Gradale and included excellent hot and cold choices. We also enjoyed where the Castle is located. It is not within the center of Perugia but is only a 10-15 minute taxi ride away. It's location is perfect for not only visiting Perugia but also the Umbrian towns of Montefalco, Assisi and Gubbio are all within an hour or so driving distance. There is only one comment I would make about the rooms. It is not critical but something to be mindful of. This is an ancient castle and the rooms have been carved into it. They are beautiful and romantic but as expected, they are small. We had two rooms, the Lecci room and the Rosone room. My husband and I stayed in Lecci and our single friend stayed in Rosone. The rooms were beautiful but they are what is expected in Italy. Small for two people. The shower was a little challenging for my husband who is 6'1". But we managed and would stay there again. …
We stayed there for just one night in May - couldn't be happier with everything. Hotel is very unique and we wish we had stayed one more night. It's not necessarily close to much, but the experience of staying there is worth it since it's so unique, and the staff was very friendly and helpful!
The castle is great outside , but inside its like it was big bendrooms and they divide it in various, so you can hear everything for about 4 rooms in total. Everything i mean sex, drunk people, people fighting, crying, laughing. Even the flush in the toilet of every room. You cant rest . The pillows are the worst is like no pillows at the bed
Enjoyed an absolutely spectacular stay in August. The hotel is beautiful, with a fantastic balance of modern comforts while also retaining its characteristic medieval appeal. The staff are highly professional and accommodating with friendly warm demeanors. The restaurant on site is delightful. We enjoyed savory breakfasts, and dinners we still talk about. The restaurant staff are also wonderful. I would be remiss if I didn’t mention specifically, Tommasso. He was absolutely fantastic! Attentive, intuitive and exceptional at matching our dishes with the perfect wine. He made us feel like family, and made our dining experience such a joy. Lastly, the hotel welcomed not only us, but our beloved pet, and their level of pet friendly was superior. We are so grateful for the lasting impression that remains from our visit. We cannot wait to return!…
Travelled as a family of 3 with an adult daughter. We reserved for 3 nights at rate of Euro 275/night and requested a specific room (Ponte Lavotoio or Ferritoie) at reservation. We were given El Drago, all the way up on the tower and it was too tight for all of us. I tried to ask for a change and were told that the hotel was full. My fault for not following up on my request, but for the price, I was hoping for something better. The swimming pool is a bit small, maybe good enough for 2 people. The ground is beautiful, but far from everything. Good if you just want to stay in and enjoy the resort. The restaurant is just average. We found better food at Stella, 1 km drive away.
First stop on our 3 week road trip through Italy - and the bar for the rest of the trip was set very high by beautiful and authentic castle. On top of the incredible castle itself the surrounding grounds are exceptional - as were the helpful staff. Restaurant has sensational views of the surrounding hills and vineyards. We stayed in the Dame suite that had incredible views in 3 different directions from the bedroom! Rooftop terrace was also cool. Put his one one your Bucket List
If you ever wanted to live in a castle you could not pick a finer one than this one. The scenery is amazing, the staff is so kind and the food..omg. We were here for a wedding and everything was spectacular. I hope to return one day to enjoy the Umbria countryside
What a place to stay in… A beautifully renovated castle with all the luxury one could wish for. Not to mention the breathtaking view from the rooms and pool. After a lovely day of sightseeing Perugia (6 min drive) and relaxing at the pool, the excellent restaurant is worth paying a visit. Overall, the Castello offers a wonderful experience around the clock.
Beautiful views, amazing food, and fantasting ambience! This castle is terrifically conserved. I stayed with my partner and we loved havng dinner at the hotel's restaurant, enjoyed the pool, drinks at the castle's main terrace, and exploring Perugia during the day.
