Only booked one night but what an experience. A beautiful setting fantastically restored and kept hotel. One of the best. They was celebrating the birthday of one of their medieval dukes and has put on a week of celebrations we was very lucky to be involved in one of their nights. We was greeted by a young lady who explained... More

Stayed here for two nights last week, third week in April, 2016 and my only real regret is I didn't stay longer. This is a very, very special place, one that I will always remember. The staff was incredibly nice and helpful and spoke fabulous English, which is not as common in Umbria I found, and my Italian is a... More

The meandering driveway leading up to the castle, is surrounded by beautiful forest. The anticipation of what lies ahead, was so exciting for us. Then it appears, a beautiful stone medieval castle, built in the 1300's, located on 700 acres, surrounded by the woods, just 20 minutes form the beautiful medieval town of Gubbio, that is the best maintained medieval... We stayed with our family a long weekend in one of the biggest rooms. Absolutely a breathtaking experience! The rooms, the corridors, the courtyard, the terrace, and the environment were all in harmony that was highlighted by the silence surrounding the castle. The place is well taken care of, very clean, heating and hot water works really nicely, personnel is... More

We stayed for two nights in the historic and beautiful tower. The staff were so welcoming and accommodating. Even though it was the off season we were offered every luxury. The first night we ate in their restaurant which was exceptional. The owner, Carlo, came by our table to personally make sure our stay was going well. Staying in the... More

We spent one night here in this ancient castle which has been cleverly renovated to bring it up to modern hotel standards. Rooms have an appropriately medieval feel, but are warm and comfortable and offer outstanding views over the Umbrian countryside. The approach road is about a mile long and in the dark you see nothing of the castle until... More

After a recent daytrip to Gubbio we stayed the night in this beautiful property, about ten miles outside of the town. One of the "two Lucias" greeted us warmly and gave us short but informative tour of the grounds. The large room we stayed in had 2 levels, stone walls, period furniture including fireplace (for decoration only), modern heating and... More

What more can be written about the amazing experience staying here? The location is a dream or Umbrian hills, forests and morning fog in the valley below. The rooms are spacious and well appointed with contemporary art. The food is most memorable with many ingredients from the farm. The environment includes man miles of well marked walking trails through pastures... More

The moment we arrived we felt welcomed and comfortable. We were given a tour of the castle, dating back to 1074, and a brief history then escorted to our delightful huge room overlooking to 9th century tower. The grounds were beautiful although a little chilly in the late afternoon. We dined at the I house restaurant which was delicious, and... More

The Castello di Petroia was one of the most quaint hotels I've ever stayed in. It was built in the 10th century and just exquisite. My husband and I had a beautiful room with unbelievable views. The staff was super friendly and helpful and made our romantic stay so worth it. The food each meal was unforgettable. Sitting around outside... More
