This place was dark and dreary and not at all what I expected. We were given a room downstairs but we said we wanted to stay upstairs because downstairs felt damp and dreary. The downstairs room and the bathroom are much larger downstairs. The breakfast was not great however the croissants were decent. The view from the breakfast room was... More

Spacious light-filled room, good bathroom and shower. We were on the first floor of an ex-convent. Il Chiostro was well-placed, close to restaurants, the many attractions of Siena and parking. Receptionist exceptionally helpful in nominating 5 good restaurants/trattorias Wifi perhaps marginal, but good breakfast made up for that

It's impossible not to be charmed by this hotel - it still retains much of the monastery feel (monks lived here for 700 years... barefoot!) But beyond the building itself, the outstanding service sets this hotel apart. The minute we arrived, someone toted our luggage up the stairs. Marta at the front desk gave us terrific restaurant recommendations - and... More

We just arrived in Siena this evening & had booked a triple room in advance with Venere, very disappointed - although in the oldest part, unfortunately the room is very poor- and not of the same quality as the rooms upstairs. It smells of drains and no view at all out of high Windows. Was so looking forward to the... More

Dear Portcherry, we are so sad to read this on Tripadvisor, as you stated in the comment the staff is always very helpful and we always do our best to please our guest. But I care to explain the situation. It was impossibile for us to give you a different room, thing that we would have happily done if only... More

My wife and I spent four days here while on our honeymoon. We loved the style of the hotel and its overall character. Our room was comfortable and featured a cute porch overlooking the beautiful city. The one criticism of the room is that the bathroom smelled like cigarette smoke. This was not a huge issue, but was something we... More

The room is nothing like what is posted on their website - we ended up on the 1st floor with a window that was frosted with no view - rustic charm took on a whole new meaning - definitely over priced and quite disappointing for our first trip to Italy - shouldn't photos on hotel website reflect what the rooms... Dear BluesClues85, Thank you for leaving a feedback. We are sorry you had a bad experience and we couldn't make up for this. Chiostro del Carmine is a XIII century building and all the rooms are made out of the ancient cells and decorated differently, each one from the other. Some rooms have bigger windows, some have a private terrace,... More

We spent almost a week in the hotel during our vacation in Tuscany and I think we were satisfied. The hotel has a typical atmosphere of old italian buildings and you can only wonder who all was walking the stairs hunderd years before you. So this we liked, same as a lovely courtyard where you can sit, just be carefull... More

We stayed at the Il Chiostro del Carmine for 3 nights during the peak of the July Palio, checking out on the Sunday. Siena is alive during this time. The room rate ended up being around AUD300/night including breakfast. The arrival: the GPS and car parking instructions provided by the Hotel were very clear and easy to follow. The rate... More

Convenient location --10 minute walk to the cafes and shops. Bathroom was clean with bright red tiles. Didn't really have anything that would make us go back. Breakfast included pastries and a range of toast and fruit.

Situated about 10 minutes from the main square this is a gem of a hotel clean quiet with friendly helpful staff. Am old convent allows the hotel plenty of atmosphere and I believe breakfast is served outside in summer which would be delightful. The rooms are clean and well appointed some with awesome views off the Tuscan countryside. The breakfast... More
