My wife and I had the pleasure of staying during last July's heatwave. It was a scorcher but a wonderful time was had. We left, unfortunately, right before the Palio, but recall our visit fondly. The food, the wine and the staff are all magnificent. In this time of hardship, they are all in our prayers and thoughts. Be strong and we will come see you again some day! We hope Gattino and Gattina are all healthy and full of frolic!
This is our second time to agritourisimo Marciano. This time we came specifically for the food and did not leave the entire three days we will there. Our room was excellent the food was again delightful. Staff and owners were wonderful! And the people we met were very interesting. We will return again and Again to the spot because of the ambience. Siena is a great city, but for relaing and enjoying a truly Italian wine experience, this is the place to be! They have specialized wine tours and their wine is excellent!!! A must do!
We booked at Agriturismo Marciano at the recommendation of a friend. The property is lovely with a helpful staff. We had dinner at the property...the meal was abundant and delicious. It was fun interacting with the other guests. They offer wine tasting and cooking classes. My only criticism (hope I am not sounding like a princess)was that the beds were not that comfortable and the towels were coarse. However, this did not detract from our experience here. We would return. The location is great. You can easily travel to the other hill towns, and a cab is about 10 Euros into the old city A shout out to Irene who was so helpful.
Agriturismo Marciano is a fabulous working farmhouse located just outside Siena. We stayed in the Cammino Suite, a beautiful room with a little terrace to sit and enjoy a glass of wine or cup of coffee. We ate dinner at the property both nights. The food was so delicious and included ingredients out of their garden. The evening meal is served family style with a few other quests, which makes for a very fun evening with good conversation. They also serve various bottles of their own wine which is produced on site. Breakfast is included in the rate and is outstanding, with homemade pastries, eggs, meats, cheeses, yogurt, fresh fruit, and so many other items. The staff is very accommodating with recommendations, or calling a taxi, or whatever you need. If you want to walk to town it’s about 45 minutes and the road can be rather busy. We utilized a taxi, which took less than 10 minutes and cost around $12 euros. Would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend.…
We spent one night at Agriturismo Marciano on Aug 5th. I really wish we had stayed there longer. We were doing their winery tour and tasting on the 6th. We drove from Rome and arrived at about 4 pm. Checkin was super easy and were even offered a lovely glass of their white wine. It was just perfect. Our room was super clean and the bathroom was quite luxurious. We had a view of their olive orchard. The beds are very comfy. The best part was the dinner that evening. Truly one of the best we have had in Italy. A very simple, home cooked meal. The tomatoes from their garden were so sweet and delicious. The chicken was perfectly seasoned and moist. Five different vegetables served were from their garden. The Pesto pasta was homemade. The meal was paired with three different wines. The breakfast the next morning is quite a spread as well, all homemade stuff. The Zucchini omelet was so scrumptious. Later that afternoon we had a really nice tour of their vineyard and the wine cellar, followed by 4 tastings and a delicious lunch. What a perfect stay. The Agriturismo is beautiful and after three hectic days in Rome, it was a much needed and relaxing retreat. The hosts are all such nice people and very helpful. Irene, guided us on how to get to Siena, where to park and what to do there. We were all so sad to leave this beautiful place. But hope to be back soon.…
