You step back in time when you enter the hotel. It is steeped in history and has been in the same family since 1837. Staff are very efficient and most speak very good English. Reception staff are very helpful and if you ask them will give you a booklet on the history of the hotel. This was our second one-night...

I stayed in two different rooms in the Royal Victoria, on either end of my trip to Tuscany. I loved the hotel! It is entirely furnished with beautiful Victorian antiques and is in a lovely building. The breakfast was very good, and they have a great rooftop patio where you can order drinks. The staff are helpful and polite. It...

My wife and I stayed in this hotel in Pisa for one night in July. We had high expectations since we had reserved a "superior double" room, which was on the 4th floor with a window overlooking the Arno river. Upon arriving at the hotel, we were quite dismayed that the entire facade was covered in scaffolding so you couldn't...

Hotel facade undergoing a face lift, unfortunately not so with the clapped-out bedrooms. First room viewed had uneven original wooden block flooring and was very dingy, with horrible dusty plastic flowers on fire hearth. They seem to like these, since they're in all corners of hotel. Bedroom furniture were relics from the 20's and badly need replacing, as were the...

TripAdvisor member Liverpool. We just had an overnight stay in a triple room at the hotel. The location is lovely on the river and fairly central as we were heading to the airport the next morning. We were disappointed on arrival as the front was covered in scaffolding however once through the doors it was lovely as it seems to...

The hotel is of a good standard but obviously somewhat old-fashioned in a charming way. Staff are very helpful. Find out which bus to take from the station or airport from the local staff (airport is 2.5km away). Bus back is almost opposite. Check out the very reasonable rates for service to the small roof terrace. Its an easy and...

The Royal Victoria Hotel is a wonderful place to stay. The hotel has a faded elegance, the rooms had antique furniture and painted ceilings. The hotel was spotless and the staff incredibly helpful especially as we took our 18 month old son who required milk every night. There is a terrace on the 4th floor, where you can sip wine...

We stayed here over Easter 2007. It is a lovely old place. The staff are very friendly. There are bikes to rent and the best gelato in Pisa is just around the corner. They also have enough regard for guests to serve a super early breakfast if you have an early flight (which many people do out of Pisa). We...

I stayed for two nights on the fourth floor of this centuries old hotel. Based on my other accomodations in Italy, this hotel represented the norm for older properties. The rooms are simply done without the bells and whistles that many Americans may be requiring these days. The long flush toilet was a hoot! Everything was clean and the breakfast...

I stayed here for one night in August last year and loved it. I was really surprised to see the negative reviews. Yes, the hotel is old, and some aspects of the accommodation were quite basic. BUT - this is far outweighed by the beauty of the old building and the quirky furniture in the room. The common rooms throughout...
