We are just back from 4 nights stay in this hotel and I don't think I ever slept that comfortably anywhere away from home. Very conveniently located, this hotel is on the riverside with stunning views and other facilities at a walkable distance yet away from noise and mad rush. The hotel is clean and the rooms are made everyday. The breakfast although there was no hot food but there was plenty of choice available like cereals, yogurts, croissants, freshly baked breads and pizzas, fruits etc. One of their staff members Catarina goes over and beyond her role and gives her best. She 's truly their representative of best customer service. Its a shame we didn't get to meet her on our last day, else we would have been able to display our appreciation for her in a more worthy manner. But all their staff is very good and a perfect place to stay.…
This place is a dump and the staff act like it too. Poor service, arrogant, couldn’t care less about their guests, “rustic” as in dusty and dirty, they cut corners wherever they can. No customer service, just interested in your money. Takes advantage of guests. Avoid like the plague, would prefer to sleep in the street or even the station.
Here are the pluses. The hotel is in a fabulous position on the Arno, and very central to the city. The river rooms have a beautiful view. The hotel is clean and the staff friendly and helpful. The continental breakfast is plentiful and good. It is an ancient hotel, once very grand. And it is very reasonably priced. The negatives. It is very very tired in terms of decor, the bathrooms particularly are beyond sad. There is no facility to make tea or coffee in the room, the internet is patchy. There are insufficient power points for the 21st century, some of which do not work. And the noise (until the early hours of the morning) from people congregating & drinking & shouting at the weekends is very disturbing. Having said that, as long as you manage your expectations, it’s a good choice for a few nights while you explore Pisa.…
It is the most ancient hotel in Italy and, probably, one of the most ancient in all of Europe. On top of that the location is amazing...you really have Pisa in your pocket. The staff is super keen and kind and all the rooms and halls were perfectly clean. At a first glance the hotel could seem decadent because all the furnitures are really old fashioned...for someone it could be too much, but all of these are contributing to make the atmosphere as unique and if you are willing to spend some time to visit the hotel (literally to visit the Hotel), it will be like to visit a museum and you will find out such as many details and curiosity about Pisa, its history and over all, about the dozens of thousands Hotel's guests, some of those very famous. Super continental breakfast and there is also a nice terrance of the top. Quality/Price rate: 5 stars…
Definitely didn’t expect the hotel to be this awful given some of the reviews - but it’s probably the worst hotel I’ve stay in. Reasons for this were: - extremely noisy: we could hear everything from both the street and internally in the hotel - very small bathroom with mould on the roof and missing tiles - very worn out furniture. Our bed was so so squeaky that every time we turned over during the night it would wake us up. Also very uncomfortable to sleep on. - eaten alive by mosquitoes during the night. Upon inspection of the walls we could see past people had the same problems as there were loads of squashed mosquitoes all over - really gross. - low to no maintenance. Walls chipped everywhere and peeling paint. The reason for 2 stars rather than 1 star is that the towels and bed sheets were clean…
Excellent hotel and situation, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. Room with great river view and antique furniture. Basic continental breakfast serving coffee according to your order. A strong recommendation especially if you are not looking for an ultramodern hotel.
Delightful old hotel by the River Arno. The hotel is very (very) old, dating back to twelve century. It has a great history and has undoubtedly seen better times. It is very very dated but has so much character that this more than compensates for the negatives of the hotel. It probably needs a million pounds spending to bring it up to modern standards. Negatives, - electric and sockets etc very old, plumbing old and small water leak from overhead cistern, some of furniture old dated 1960s Formica. Positives, - it is so old it has loads of character, many of the furnishing and fittings are antiques and of high quality. Original tiled floors and radiators etc. Old photos and plans on walls and very old classic style windows with internal shutters (that work) Big bathroom and a traditional feel. Have an explore of the hotel, there are pianos, old telephone kiosks and old motorbikes and antiques and curios everywhere. There is a rooftop garden which is good to chill and the breakfast was good enough. Staff all very friendly. This is a very old hotel but it is very inexpensive and so please bear this in mind. This is not a Travelodge, it is clean but not modern and if you accept it for what it is then you will certainly enjoy your stay here. If you can’t accept the negatives of this hotel then go elsewhere.…
We arrived late at night and the young man on reception was friendly and professional. He spoke perfect English but was willing to speak in Italian to me as I am learning! We were given an enormous room which was spotlessly clean. The only drawback is I had not booked a room with air conditioning! It was rather hot but we were so tired we had no problem sleeping. The corridors and public rooms are decorated in a 19th century vintage style which takes you back in time. I loved it. The breakfast was served in a huge room with a small outside covered patio. There were lots of options of cereals, pastries, etc . The upstairs roof terrace is so beautiful! Just go and have a look. The staff were all very aware of wearing masks and there is hand sanitizer on each floor. They took hygiene very seriously. The location is perfect for exploring Pisa. I would definitely stay here again. We walked to the train station with our luggage which was a straightforward 10 mins walk. …
Hotel Very old and not well maintained. We were in a room as small as a closet. The furniture doesn’t have to be this obsolete to be in the “70s” theme. Breakfast alright but long wait for a coffee and terrace was facing some abandoned facade with pigeons.. small detail not very important, but if you want to make a typical old fashioned theme hotel you need to play some appropriate music and not some hit radio. Could have been much better.
English: Sadly a very bad happy hour. The food was of extremely low quality that included dips, pickles and onions probably bought at a low cost discount. The bread was dry and not fresh. Very expensive too. The wine was OK. That's unfortunate as the terrace is lovely. Not raccommended at all.
