Nestled within the medieval city walls, Hotel Ilaria is celebrated for its spotless rooms and exceptional cleanliness. The hotel's amenities, including free bikes and a varied breakfast, complement its welcoming atmosphere, although the decor may feel a touch dated for some. Guests laud the prime location, which offers easy access to local attractions. Service at Hotel Ilaria is often described as friendly and professional, adding value to the stay despite some guests being surprised by minibar costs. While the rooms are generally comfortable, a few find them on the smaller side.

This hotel is excellent.I could start this review on many topics concerning the hotel but the thing to that sets it apart for excellence ( apart from many other things) is the superb quality of the staff ( each and every one). They work as a total team and they deserve every good adjective in the book ( helpful, cheerful, efficient, ).They are best described as...well lovely. The hotel is like a oasis in a desert. Not that Lucca is thus described. That is also lovely. But arriving back at hotel after a gruelling day in Florence, it as an oasis of welcoming calm and delight. Well done ALL of you.

Fantastic location, exceptional service with complimentary afternoon treats, and friendly staff. The breakfast was delightful, especially the selection of deli meats. The bedrooms were comfortable and pleasant. I will definitely be returning on my next visit.

We spent 3 nights at this lovely hotel and it was great being welcomed by the friendly staff. The staff were always on hand and so accommodating. There was plenty of choice for breakfast which consisted of fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereal, pastries and much more.. I would highly recommend this hotel when staying in Lucca.

What a wonderful hotel this is from the very friendly, helpful staff (with special mention for Alessandro and Claudia, the receptionists) to the free buffet offering drinks, cakes, pastries etc from noon to 19.00 (including Prosecco from 17.00). Breakfast was also special with an extensive buffet including cereals, fresh fruit, pastries, cakes, yoghurts, 3 types of bread, bacon, boiled & scrambled eggs plus juices and tea/coffee. This takes place in the charming breakfast room overlooking the botanic gardens. Our bedroom had just been renovated and had a very comfortable, large bed, a spacious bathroom with bathtub, tv, free Wi-Fi and tea/coffee etc. If ever you visit Lucca I would recommend staying at this wonderful hotel.

Beautifl hotel near a little river. Easy access to shops, bars etc, 10min walk and 10 mins to train station. Hotel reception is great and helpful with free coffees and happy hour at 5pm. We stayed in the bell tower, which is actually 30 yards over the road from the main hotel. Secure, quiet, stunning. Our superior room was amazing, very spacious and comfy. Only bad thing about the room was the tiny kettle haha! 2 bathrooms which were ace and bedroom upstairs with walk in wardrobe and the en-suite. Lovely. Breakfast was nice and simple, nothing famcy but did the job. Worst thing is you cannot get your own coffee or tea and staff can take a while, one morning we just couldn't get a brew which was disappointing. Apart from that all good. It is a wonderful hotel and Lucca is special and we made lots of amazing memories.

Hotel Ilaria was very clean and we enjoyed our stay. The breakfast buffet was very nice and we were served freshly made café and cappuccino. They also had complimentary drinks and snacks in the lobby area. My only complaint about our room is that the shower was small with one end open (no door or curtain), so water splashed out onto the floor and soaked the towel that we had to put down. The hotel is about a 20-minute walk from the train station and a 10-minute walk from the city center.

After what I thought was careful preparation, looking at all the nice reviews, we chose Ilaria. We were really looking forward to it. What a disappointment Nothing really wrong, but we know many other hotels in Italy (and Lucca) with 2 and 3 stars that were quite similar and even better. We came from 4 stars in Milan and Florence and the difference was immensely big. The room was a setback. First of all, it was not properly cleaned. The crome was far from shiny, I am sure because I washed some of it just to make sure it was not aging. The seat in the toilet was loose and you had to fight the water tap every time to get it on the warm side. The closet was so dusty that we could write our name on the shelves. One of the drinking glases had something sticky inside, and I moved it to be changed. That never happened. The shower had no door and with a rainforest showerhead placed in the middle you had to bee very careful so you did not flood the whole floor. The shower was otherwise nice. The room had what you needed, but it was far from cosy. The lack of charm in the room didn't make you want to be there. Cold floors and not even slippers. Because of closeness to neighbours we had the curtain closed at all times. The breakfast was only average. OK selection, but the food tasted very bland, and with posters that told you not to serv yourself with coffe and tea , you should expect the ladies working there to ask what you wanted to drink. For four days we were never greeted when we arrived and were never asked what we would like to drink. The room was also quite small and many people suffered from a cold. They had a free counter with drinks and snacks in the lobby. Nice offering. With cozier furniture, it could have been very nice. We always book through the hotel website. The hotel promised a free bottle of wine on its website. We never saw anything and didn't like to ask. I do not know why we are unable to agree with all the nice reviews, but this was far from what we expected. This is not a 4 stars. There are so many nice hotels in Lucca, do not make the same mistake as we did.

Our stay at this charming hotel was delightful. Its proximity to the train station and major attractions made it convenient. The triple room was comfortable with a spacious bathroom. The breakfast was superb, and they offered complimentary snacks throughout the day. We rode hotel's complimentary bikes to explore the ancient city wall.

Really liked this hotel! Great location. We were upgraded to the tower rooms across the street. Comfortable clean rooms, slightly dated feel. Disappointed we couldn’t use the roof top hot tub due to occasional rain. Breakfast was very good but very chaotic when there’s a tour booked at the hotel. Same with the complimentary happy hour. We also didn’t realize they charged for items in the mini bar. The rest of our hotels in Florence and Rome offered this as complimentary. We wished we would have taken advantage of the free bikes. But we loved how friendly the front desk staff were. They arranged a wonderful tour and tasting of a local winery for us! We enjoyed our one night stay.
