Location is delightful, away from the crowded centre, just a short walk away along the scenic river. Breakfast is delicious and served on a delighful flowered terrace. Staff were friendly and helpful, including recommending a very good local restaurant. Family room was large and comfortable, on the back side of the hotel, which was nice and quiet. Also handy to... My daughter had studied in Florence, and I was meeting up with her for a weeks stay. Hotel Silla was perfect for our needs. Excellent location, wonderful patio and free breakfast, very affordable. The rooms have a private bathroom, and air conditioning. The staff was wonderful, helped us with train tickets to the coast, and available for every need. Would... More

the hotel seems very nice at first, but many issues disturbed our stay. the location is just a little too far from the city center, the bed was old and uncomfortable, the breakfast terrace also attracts bees and pigeons so you cannot sit there and eat. i am sure you can find a better place.

We had 2 rooms, side by side, in Hotel Silla for myself, my husband and our 3 children, ages 13, 11 and 9. The hotel was not fancy or lavishly decorated, but clean and comfortable, with large rooms. My son especially liked having almost his own separate room within the "triple" room he shared with his sisters. We enjoyed the... More

This was our first trip to Florence and found our experience of the hotel to be unique, memorable and most comfortable. The staff are very friendly and highly knowledgable - and not just about their city but about other cultures too. The rooms were spacious, with all the facilities and amenities and the view from our room over-looking the park... More

We liked the location because it is across the Arno river where it is quiet and it is close enough to walk to important sites in Florence. There are great restaurants in the neighborhood, with a small supermarket 2 doors from the hotel which is very convenient. The staff at the hotel is extremely friendly and hospitable. We loved breakfast... More

We had a large family room with a king size bed, a single bed and a single cot. The room was spacious as was the bathroom. The staff were all very pleasant and extremely helpful. The breatfast on the terrace was very nice. The hotel was within walking distance of a lot of the major attractions. Would recoomend this to... More

We loved Hotel Silla. We heard about this hotel through friends who also loved it. The staff arranged a tour for us to Pisa and a private driver to take our daughter, at 4:30 am, to the airport. The room was large and the air conditioner worked. The breakfast was standard European, and the women working there were very helpful... More

The hotel is in the perfect spot- close enough to walk to the city center and the Piazza di Michelangelo but also in a relatively quiet neighborhood. The staff was immensely helpful and courteous. One night we wanted to have a picnic and they kindly provided the utensils, ice, and everything else we needed. The concierge was also invaluable in... More

We stayed at the Hotel Silla for 3 nights. The hotel is a nice oasis south of the river and away from the tourist mobs yet just a short walk from the Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi, etc. Our room (a triple which was two doubles combined with a separate single) was large with high ceilings and a nice big window. The... More

Staying in Piazzale Michelangelo

Neighborhood Profile
Piazzale Michelangelo
Just outside the ancient walls of Florence, Viale Michelangiolo starts. It is a winding road rimmed by wonderful poplars and holm oaks. The long ascent opens up to the most beautiful and famous panoramic viewpoint of Florence: Piazzale Michelangelo, where an elevated terrace offers visitors an incomparable and breathtaking view of the entire city from above. During good weather, Piazzale Michelangelo provides visitors with a serene space surrounded by the amazing landscape, better if accompanied by a fresh gelato from a local kiosk. During night, visitors will be dazzled by the warm lights of the capital of the Renaissance. Spend a second with the silent Romanesque beauty of the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte: the one that wishes good morning and good night to Florence!
