Hotel Silla is in the Oltrarno, the less-busy side of the Arno River, which runs through the center of Florence. We love Hotel Silla... The neighborhood is quiet, there are several restaurants nearby, it is a short walk over the bridge to see the sites, and best of all this hotel is clean, comfortable, and reasonable. The complimentary breakfast includes...

I guess my only complaint would be the early-morning noise. My door was located very close to the lobby and early morning deliveries were loud and kept waking me up. Other than that, I couldn't find anything to complain about and of all the hotels I stayed at during my Rick Steves tour, this was by far the most generous...

I was really disappointed with this hotel. The room did not look like the pictures. Not trying to sound mean, but it was one of the worst hotel rooms I have been in. Had I known, I would have paid more to ensure better quality. There was no iron in the room so I went to the front desk and...

I was here for a short two day stay while working. I walked from the main train station S.M.N which took about twenty minutes. I was pleased to find the hotel Silla on the first floor of what had all the appearance of an Italian palazzo. The small entrance door reveals a charming space which retains many of the features...

This was our second stay at Hotel Silla and as before, we could not have been more than pleased with the service, accommodations, and overall pleasant friendly atmosphere of this hotel. We chose this location due its close proximity to all the beautiful sights in Florence. As we found on our previous visit in 2014, the staff ( Massimo, Claudio,...

Stayed for two nights in Florence. It was ok - not amazing and not terrible. Hotel check in / lobby is up stairs / lift so not a great sense of arrival. Staff are ok but a little impersonal. Had participated in a promo which gave us a complimentary bottle of prosecco. Had to mention it, ask again for it...

Well situated on the south side of the Arno and just 5/10 minutes walk from the Uffizzi, this a great option for any kind of visit to Florence. Good breakfast, clean and new bathrooms, and quiet atmosphere, it's a great hotel.

Great staff, very helpful. Room excellent, location wonderful and included parking. We stayed in 7 different locations during our 21 days including Rome, Venice, Florence, Samta Cristina Val Gardena in the Dolomiti and Vernazza in the Cinque Terre. While most of the places were very good the Hotel Silla was the best.

My sis and I plus my niece and two of her friends stayed here two years ago and loved the location and terrace so we were pleased when we were able to get a reservation for our last night in Florence this past September. I still love the location and terrace and the staff is wonderful. But the rooms and...

The best thing about this hotel is the location. Just far enough from the big attractions like Duomo to get a quiet night's sleep, but close enough to get you there in 10 minutes by foot. Also very close to some nice food spots that are not filled up because they're away from the touristy section of Florence. The hotel...

Staying in Piazzale Michelangelo

Neighborhood Profile
Piazzale Michelangelo
Just outside the ancient walls of Florence, Viale Michelangiolo starts. It is a winding road rimmed by wonderful poplars and holm oaks. The long ascent opens up to the most beautiful and famous panoramic viewpoint of Florence: Piazzale Michelangelo, where an elevated terrace offers visitors an incomparable and breathtaking view of the entire city from above. During good weather, Piazzale Michelangelo provides visitors with a serene space surrounded by the amazing landscape, better if accompanied by a fresh gelato from a local kiosk. During night, visitors will be dazzled by the warm lights of the capital of the Renaissance. Spend a second with the silent Romanesque beauty of the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte: the one that wishes good morning and good night to Florence!
