In the heart of the old city of Florence, just between Piazza Santa Croce and Piazza della Signoria, there is De Benci b&b, bed and breakfast in Florence, ideal base for visiting one of the most beautiful cities on earth and its art.The visit, the discovery of the capital of the Renaissance already begins within the walls of De Benci b&b.The atmosphere is very charming, stylish and romantic: you will be welcomed into elegantly furnished suites with every modern comfort (air conditioning/heating, private bathroom in room, digital lcd tv - DTV, internet connection, Etc.).The bed and breakfast is on the fourth floor of an ancient building (dating back to 1300) with the recent installation of modern lift. The thick and textured interior walls are painted rose. The doors are as light as ivory. Very wide windows let the light go in. The typical Tuscan floor and the ancient wooden-beam ceiling enrich the entire structure. In all over the place you can find small details in characteristic stone (i.E. Pietra serena), in ancient brick or in dark wrought iron and brass that decorate the environment, but soft colour and scent of wood reign over all. Every detail has been chosen with great care, taste and passion.

The B&B is the renovated 4th floor of a building in an excellent location - about a five minute walk from the Ufizzi. THe original rooms were transformed into bedrooms with bath. The room was large and the bed comfortable and there was an extra comfortable couch with piillows and nice blankets for snuggling up. The main problem is that the bath was really in the center of the room and separated by a wall that didn't reach the ceiling. So that noise or light from the bathroom filled the room, which can be disturbing. The B&B is decorated in a particular style (lots of artificial flowers, golden chickens on the dining room table ,etc) that did not fit our taste but maybe that's what some people really like. The breakfast was also a bit strange to our taste.

Just a few steps from the Piazza Santa Croce, De' Benci B&B was the perfect place for us to enjoy a few days in Firenze. Breakfasts were first rate and warmly delivered, and the proprietors were an excellent source of information about where to go and what to see. Not your typical hotel, the decor was informative about Firenze, interesting and attractive. The location is within easy walking distance of the main attractions of Firenze and surrounded by restaurants that provide the genuine Tuscan experience. Our room was comfortable and had all that we needed. We much appreciated the private access and quite nature of the accommodations, but the clear sense that our hosts were there to help us as we wanted or needed. For us, it was like staying with family, folks who were busy with their own lives, but opened their doors completely to ensure that our visit was as best as it could be. In short, great location, excellent breakfast, friendly and accommodating hosts and a fair price. De' Benci B&B will be our first choice on other trips.

Though this is in a great location in Florence, is reasonably priced, and includes a good breakfast, we (a couple and 2 singles sharing a room) did not have a good experience for 2 reasons. First, it was difficult, really unable to cool our bedrooms adequately, and the temperature in the city was quite warm during our stay. First, there is no setting below 25 degrees C (77 F), though even at that setting, the room didn't cool adequately even overnight. When I had difficulty getting the air conditioner to work upon our return one day, I contacted the manager (who is not on site) who seemed annoyed at this, asking why I had not let him know earlier, etc. He did suggest I check the windows behind the shutters. Apparently it was not quite closed (I had NOT opened), so securing that fixed the problem. The "amenities" were barely a minimum, with 2 unlabeled bottles, presumably one for shampoo and one for body soap? The downside of B&Bs (at least the 3 starred ones in which we stayed throughout our time in Italy) is there are few rooms (this one had only 4 I believe), so the manager is not on site other than a few hours during the morning (in our experience). Also, if you have early tours scheduled, you are not able to have breakfast before 8AM, which is too late to eat and get to a tour. I would not recommend this place, as much for the manager as anything else. Not sure I'd recommend the "laundry service" because it was not done in a timely manner (could be because of the weekend) and not adequately dry.

My daughter and I spent 4 days at De’Benci Bed and Breakfast. Our room was spacious and comfortable, however air conditioning didn’t seem to work extremely well ( it was quite humid for 2of the days we were there) Our breakfast was lovely with homemade cakes by Sara ( Carlo’s mother) , who was very friendly and accommodating! Carlo helped with getting cabs for us and was also very kind to us. I especially loved spending time with “Luna” their little dog 🐶 ❤️ The building has an elevator which is very helpful considering it’s on the 4th floor. If you like staying at a B & B , this is a good one!

This is my 4th time staying at de Benci B and B. And like all my other visits, it was fantastic. A couple of things have been upgraded since I last reviewed. The big door to get in the building from the street is now powered so it opens and closes itself, and there is a new espresso machine in the dining room. Carlo and his mom are always a happy sight to see when I arrive in Florence. They are kind, helpful and understanding. You will read a lot of reviews about the noise in the street... This is very typical when you stay in the city centers in these old buildings. I personally love being in the heart of the city. I ALWAYS have earplugs and it's never an issue. There's even a laundromat across the street if you'd like to do your own laundry, but they do offer the service in the B&B as well. Like always, if you have the opportunity to stay here... I highly recommend it.

I came upon this place on accident, on the Internet. Such a blessing. Great place, great breakfast and very hospitable, helpful and knowledgeable host. Location is perfect... away from the tourist crowds, yet walkable to all the attractions. Close to the water, practically next door to a "must see" Santa Croce and a short walk to Ponte vecchio. Great experience at this place.

Very nice, cute b&b; great location; very clean with a tasty breakfast and great service. Small, quaint and quiet, except outdoor noise can get a little loud (not too bad). My only complaint was that our mattress was uncomfortably hard. Aside from this, the rooms are large. Very nice.
