It's a shame I didn't read reviews before I came to this hotel. Now after staying at this place I can agree with other persons - AVOID Patrizia Hotel. 1. Old couple doesn't speak English. They know only some words. When You aks them something they don't understand You. 2. It needs a BIG renovation. Furniture is too old. Hairdryer...

Although this is two star hotel, the service and facilities are horrible. If you wanna save some money, go to a hostel which is even nicer than here. I guess this is family run hotel. When I arrived, an elderly lady (mother) greeted me but she nearly could not speak English and hardly answered my questions. The room was horrific,...

When we stayed here the entire building was being renovated, so our windows were entirely blocked by scaffolding. It wouldn’t have been such an issue, if it weren’t for the fact that the room was so stuffy and muggy that we really needed access to a completely open window in order to air it out. There is a lot of...

I have to laugh about this hotel and the other reviews about it. i can also laugh about it now but at the time it was a horrible experience. the building is being renovated (only on the outside), so the windows are blocked out with scaffolding or tarp. When i arrived i was greeted by an elderly couple who were...

What has been written is true - scaffolding in front, building under construction, open electrical sockets, erratic wifi, no tv due to building under construction. We missed this hotel because we thought it was a construction site! The elevators were not working on the first day, luckily it was fixed the next day. Plus side was the room is very...

The building was under renovation. This was not mentioned by the hotel of tripadvisor. The entrance was horrible, very dusty and abandoned. The elevator was miserable, but it worked. The hotel was in the third floor. The room was like a bad film. A number "7" was drawn on the door. The window was "out of service" because of the...

After the night in this hotel whole my body was bitten by bed bugs, some of them I had seen in the morning on the bed and I crushed them by my finger. There was my blood! I was unable to prove anything to the owners because they said that I was bitten by mosquitoes! Beware of this hotel! Among...

August 2013. I booked a four night stay at this two star Hotel with Thomas Cook. I can't believe I didn't ask the agent to check the reviews on trip advisor because I had already browse it at room earlier. Anyway, I got home after booking and looked at the reviews and OMG I was so upset. I couldn't cancel...

On arrival I was checked in by a very kind lady who also spoke english. She provided me with a map of Florence and some advice on the city. I found the staff of the Patrizia hotel very friendly and helpful. However, what you read on tripadvisor is true. The hotel is in a bad state and there is scaffolding...

I recently went on a university trip to Florence and stopped at this hotel, and having read the previous reviews we didn't expect it to be fantastic, but were shocked when we got there. The whole building was covered in scaffolding, we walked up around six flights of stairs in a building that was completely stripped and arrived at the...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.

“Not sure about the other rooms but ours was Room 4. It looked out on the main entrance to the Hotel. Would have been ok if the scaffolding wasn't there. Buildings opposite but pleasant enough view. Not too much trouble with noise. Church bells start at 7am but not that much of a problem.”
