We had no dramas at all staying at Leonardo House. The hostel as a whole is pretty basic, so the bedrooms and bathrooms (shared) are quite simple. But they were very well kept and clean which made them enjoyable to use. Leonardo was a great host and gave us a map with all of the 'must see' areas on it... More

Guy who received us was very kind, gave us a map and explain us the basic. We haven't been so much in the hostel because we only had two days to walk around. Clean share bathroom which, until we saw, it was shared only with one other room. Maybe causality, but our room had a crafted painting of our country... More

Place unbelievably close to the trains/bus station, it is possible to get there in 5 minutes just by walking. When we came, Leonardo took a map and crosed us worth-to-see things. Room wasnt big itself, but CLEAN, new and with everything you can possibly need. I really appreciated that, also it was very silent, considering the great location. I really... More

The location is great, just round the corner from Santa Maria Novella. 5 Mins from the SMN Bus Stop, although i got a bit of lost but people around helped. Me and my wife chose Florence as our first stop to start our Euro Trip and This was the first place we started our Tour. And Leonardo made us comfortable in... More

The place is really easy to find from Santa-Maria Novella station and close to all the landmarks especially the Duomo. The hostel is very clean and our room was comfortable enough. Leonardo was lovely and really helpful. A pleasant stay :)

There's a lot to love about Leonardo House; the location, the comfort, etc. But there's one big thing to hate... There are signs on every door asking the guest to close the door carefully. No big deal, you'd think. I never slam doors. One time, on my second day, I let the bedroom door shut behind me. It didn't slam.... More

We love Leonardo. He was lovely, waiting out of hours for us to arrive, giving us helpful info and doodles on our map, and always there with a friendly hello. The room was brilliant too - so big and comfortable. The memory foam pillows were fantastic. Would definitely go back.

This is like a little gem hidden in this small street in Florence. It is very close to all the major attractions and within walking distance to all of them. The room itself was very cosy, very clean and had a large window, which we left open during the night. It was honestly a very pleasant experience and the service... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
