I had a short visit to Florence and was delighted with my stay. The guest house is close walking distance from the train station and an easy walk to all the famous sights of Florence. Ms. Silvia was very friendly and welcoming, very helpful. Breakfast is a nice choice and delivered to the room. The room was clean and comfortable,... More

My husband and our friend had a wonderful stay here. The room was clean, spacious, comfortable bed and hot shower facility with right water pressure. Sylvia's warm hospitality also added a personal touch which makes our stay in Florence complete. Highly recommended!

Sylvia gave me the exact directiona to arrive from the train station, and also waited for me. Staff was really kind and having breakfast in your own room was a nice detail. Location is good, 10-15 minutes (walk) from the duomo. Also a safe area.

We just got back from a 2 week vacation in Tuscany Italy. We stayed in Florence the last two days at La Locandiera. Sylvia was very friendly and helpful at the B&B. Our room was up several flights of stairs and we were happy there was an elevator for our luggage and when we were just too tired to walk... More

After having to extend our stay in Florence (medical emergency) and find another hotel, we were fortunate enough to discover La Locandiera (48 via Della Scala). Owner/operator Sylvia accommodated our needs with ease. If you are looking for a lovely, reasonable spot close to the train station, transit and tourist attractions, this is the place for you. Oh yes, your... More

We booked this B+B based on the TripAdvisor reviews and we were not disappointed! This place is a find and Silvia is a gem! Everything was great -- cable TV, wifi, AC, storage space, bathroom, amenities, and -- a bonus -- cooked-to-order breakfast. Our room felt more like a suite and we were able to organize our belongings easily during... More

I stayed in La Locandiera Florence with my wife for 2 days, the room was very nice and clean, the bathroom in excellent condition and the rest of the room in very good condition. The breakfast was nice and enough and the service from Silvia was always very good. The price was very reasonable (for Florence) and I would recommend... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
