This hotel is in a fantastic location. It is simple, but clean and comfortable. The staff are friendly and happy to recommend places to eat. The breakfast was simple but enough to get us going for the day. The rooms are small due to the historic building, but they've done well to make the most of the space - it...

We arrived in Florence after our flight and were staying one night before heading out to a stay in the country. I wanted to stay somewhere where we could walk around and see some sights for our short stay. We had been in Florence in 2011 and Hotel Santa Croce was right in the area I wanted to stay. It...

First things first. The hospitality of the staff was excellent. The Staffs were very warm and friendly. The hotel is located in the centre of the city and to add to that it is located in a heritage site. The rooms were pretty cozy and comfortable. The only downside were the bathrooms which were pretty small.

We just got home from our week in Italy. We stayed at Hotel Santa Croce for 4 nights, while visiting our daughter who is studying abroad in Florence. The staff is so welcoming and helpful and answered all our questions. Although the rooms are small, every inch of the room is efficiently utilized. The hotel is located within a 15...

Stayed in September. Mario , Gabriel and their staff are wonderful. Mario went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable, advised us how to make the most of our short stay in Florence and provided excellent restaurant recommendations. Hotel is quaint and clean with small rooms that meet basic needs. Hotel is centrally located, near all major attractions....

Gabriel and Mario were so wonderful and welcoming...I have never felt so at home and so cosy in a hotel! Gabriel even walked back to our car with us - 20 mins walk (we have SatNav issues and couldn't locate the hotel!) and actually drove the car to the hotel for us! Yes, the hotel is dinky and the rooms...

My husband and I stayed here two nights. The owners of the hotel were so helpful with recommendations especially dinners. They also went out of their way to mail a lost earring back to me in the United States. The room was small but the service was excellent and the breakfasts were very nice

Dear Mrs. Bakley, it's a great pleasure to receive your wonderful review. And thanks even for sharing your private and positive experience, we were so happy to have found and sent your precious earring to your home in the United States. It was really hard to find as it was already wrapped in dirty sheets in the laundry bags, but...

Just stayed here in early October 2016 and I can't say enough great things about this hotel. I'll say right off the bat the only thing you should keep in mind is that the actual rooms are kinda small, but that in no way warranted a lowering of my rating. The hotel dates back to the 16th century (earlier?) so...

Great place to stay for a short visit. Staff was extremely accommodating and very helpful in recommending restaurants, providing directions and ensuring that our stay was comfortable. Rooms are a bit dated but clean and quiet.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
STAYING AT HOTEL SANTA CROCE gives the possibility to live a unique experience in the magical atmosphere of Florence. Small but welcoming, Hotel Santa Croce is immersed in the marvellous historical centre, right in the heart of the artistic, cultural and commercial life of the city. The Hotel is situated in an historical building dating back to the 600s and stands on the remains of an ancient Roman amphitheatre. The illustrious Michelangelo Buonarroti spent his childhood years in the adjoining house (there is a marble plaque showing evidence of this on the wall of the first floor). While just a few metres away you can find all of the most important monuments and museums, as well as the most renowned bars for those who would like a taste of the Florentine night-life. Situated only 100 metres from Piazza della Signoria, the Uffizi Gallery and Piazza Santa Croce (from where the Hotel's name derives), you can admire the enchanting Basilica where the remains of the greatest artists, writers, poets and scientists in Italian history are buried; we are also just a few steps away from il Duomo, il Battistero, the magnificent Campanile di Giotto and the Basilica of Santa Maria del Fiore and Santa Maria Novella, not to mention the precious Ponte Vecchio, under which Florence's rushing River Arno flows. Or if you would prefer to dedicate some of your free-time to shopping, you can spend hours walking up and down Via Tornabuoni or Via De Calzaiuoli discovering the best names in Italian, and international fashion. The breakfast room, cosy, warm and welcoming, will help you wake up in the best of moods. There is a 24-hour reception service and staff are always willing to help wherever possible. Enjoy your stay at Hotel Santa Croce ! ... more   less
