When we travel, my wife and I look for a clean, comfortable room, central to the old city, with local flavor. The Katti House was all of that. Not a 4 star hotel, but not 4 star pricing either. Owner spoke little English, but she is very nice and a gracious host. We found her restaurant to be among the... More

My sister and I stayed here for one night. We had difficulty connecting with the owner, Maria, when we arrived. No one answered the bell. A sign directed us to the restaurant down the street, also owned by Maria, but that was closed. We came back later, having to schlep our luggage in the meantime. Maria speaks almost no English.... They have added to the original pensione with a piano2 down the street, giving travelers a choice between the original eccentric and wonderful hotel in an energizing locale with her tables-on-walking-street trattoria next door, or a more reserved and quiet brand new quarters in a buildingi with apartments and professional offices. In reading the ratings, keep in mind that some... More

Out dated hotel, AC & TV don't work, small bath, only a shower head without even a shower tray. Towels are more like cheap table cloths. Staff are not professional and unwilling to help for a basic simple task like storing your luggage after check out time.

I had a good experience here. I checked in easily (they were waiting) and was taken to their 2nd location down the street. Even though very very very little English is spoken, we managed to communicate ok. My reservation was a little bit different because I was staying, leaving and coming back. My room was basic and clean and was... More

Our 5-day stay in Florence was made memorable because of the warm and friendly welcome we received from Madam Maria and her family. They manage a beautiful set of rooms and a trattoria (located 2 doors away) and from here, my family and I explored all the sights of Florence on foot. We also walked to the train station to... We had a wonderful experience at the Katti House. It is centrally located, clean, and quaint. Our room was quite large with a big window that opened out to a roof top court yard. The rooms that are on the street side can be a bit noisier. The Katti House location was key since we used Florence as our base... More

We didn't get anything for breakfast except stale croissants and instant coffee. We had to drag out suitcases up and down three flights of stairs...no one to help. Clerk could not speak (at all - no voice) and we could not understand him. TV did not work. Bed uncomfortable. Unfortunately these conditions seem typical in Italy.

We showed up unannounced from an underwhelming visit to Lucca... I had stayed here back in 2009 and thought I would give it a shot for our last night in Italy... Maria was very accomodating and had us in a room before official check-in time... The location is convenient to the train station and all Florence sites... interesting restaurant choices... More

We arrived from a wonderful B&B in Lucca expecting another great B&B. We found a small dirty room, a small dirty bathroom, in a frightening location. There was no one there, we had to go down the street to find someone who spoke very little English, and who was not very helpful. It was so bad, we had to make... More
