Reception is tiny and there are no elevators otherwise everything else is perfect with the hotel. We had two rooms. My sister and I stayed on the second floor and we were delighted with everything. The only minor thing was that the window of the shower was visible in the bedroom so, we had to turn around while the other... More

Very helpful staff with smile. Rooms are in good size. Nicely located by termini firenze. Breakfast was good to have plus a nice Coffee made by the lady. She hands out a map and local info as you may need on your arrival. Plus free wifi.

This hotel has only one problem: it does not have elevator!!! But that is the only weak point of it. Indeed, the hotel has an excellent location, just in front of the Santa Maria Novelle Train Station and a 5 minute walking from Galleria Uffizi and ponte vecchio (2 of Firenze's main attractions). The breakfast does not have much variety,... More

We visited this hotel for our Honeymoon and spent 2 nights. We were first greeted by a very nice lady who was very welcoming, and informative, she even offered to take our luggage up to our room. They helped us plan a day trip to Tuscany for the next morning. They upgraded us for free as we had had emailed... More

The location was excellent, although a better sign could have saved us going up and down the road looking for the hotel. Door numbers in Florence do not help at all. The room and bathroom were spacious, clean and looks like being newly refurbished. Overlooking the main road was great for us as we could people watch even when relaxed... More

This hotel was provided for me as part of a University visit to Florence to view the sights and visit some jewellery schools. The location was perfect - a five minute walk took me to the Domo, good cafes and restaurants. The second floor accommodation was very comfortable and well kept - lack of lift keeps you fit! The breakfast... More

It's been a little more than one year when I visited this beautiful hotel. I wanted to write a review right after my visit but anyways.... We wanted to take our time and really experience Florence so stayed 11 nights in early October 2015 at Hotel Lombardia. As others have said, the hotel is ideally located close to Santa Maria Novella Railway Station and a 5 minute walk to Duomo. Our room was 204 on the second floor away from Via Panzani. It had a king... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
