This is a no-frills hotel so no mini-bar or safe in the room, and the decor is a little tired - but the room and bathroom were spotlessly clean and the staff were all cheerful, helpful and approachable. I would definitely stay here again.

We were happy consumer. I will return again. Helpfully staff and friendly. I have not complain. It's about 10minutes walk to the main square . The room has a fridge . The only thing missing is s coffee and tea maker or a kettle. But I will return

Very nice and helpful staff. We got good tips for city tour. Big, clean room. Enought space for bigger groups. Worth the money Only thing that disdurbed me littlebit was the cold storage at breakfast.

They are very friendly, they teaches us how to walk around Florence actively even we didn't requested for it. The room is cozy and tidy, but the lights are quite dim. Wired design in the bathroom as the toilet and the washing tub are very close, which makes it not comfort when going to toilet. As Florence is not big,... More

The room was big and spacious and the beds comfortable. The staff was very friendly and showed us, besides the most famous sights of Florence, the best restaurants and ice cream places. The staff also helped us find a supermarket and fixed a broken shelf in the bathroom right away as well. They really made us feel welcome and taken... More

We stayed for a couple of days. The room was adequate but could do with some modernisation.staff are fantastic though, and really provide great information about the local area. I did find it strange how none of the rooms have any door numbers on.Also the people in the room were noise and you could hear the constant banging of doors etc... More

hello there, I thank you for the "average",this is a small, clean, comfortable, cheap place, you booked a four bedroom for two nights and spent a total of 119.28 euros. Thank you also for the "fantastic staff". If you would have raised your head once in your whole stay you would have also seen the numbers on top the rooms' doors,they... More

Really enjoying my stay here. Best welcome I have ever had by a receptionist. She could not have been more helpful or accommodating. Gave us loads of ideas on what to look for, where to eat. Nice clean room, walking distance to the city centre.

We stayed in Hotel Savonarola for two nights and had nothing bad to say. First, their coffee was the first delicious coffee we tried in Italy so we drank it every morning there. Room was clean and sweet. Hotel is in the middle of the bus station and centre of Firence so you can walk it through.

It was a toss up between booking with Airbnb or a hotel. My husband and I were backpacking and wanted something cheap and cheerful whilst we explored different cities. The price at this hotel could not be beat and I didn't mind that I had to cross the room to use our private bathroom. The hotel is in a building's... More

A basic hotel in a central location walkable distance to major attractions (10-30 minutes). Very friendly staff. But bear in mind it's very basic old building with a strange lift. Very basic breakfast. I would call this place good but the very basic types

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
