Hotel Giappone is wonderful. I have stayed here many times, it is centrally located near many sights, the Duomo and restaurants. The rooms are clean and the service is impeccable. They have WiFi, and guest operated air conditioning and heat. I highly recommend this hotel.

We arrived here as a late, late arrival, our previously booked hotel being unsuitable (AC not working). Our host allowed us to view the room before we booked as I really wanted to check the AC was working. It was a fantastic stay. The room was the large one with the striped furnishings you can see in some of the...

LOCATION: Extremely easy to find, signage / buzzer clearly displayed at public street level, 8 minute walk from the Train Station (Firenze SMN), all the attractions within close walking distance. Very safe area with upscale/ high end store fronts along the street. FACILITIES: booking showed "shared bathroom" and was pleasantly surprised to find a shower and sink in the room....

Good location though it took me an hour to find the place (I didn't have a map or gps :) ) I stayed just for one night and in a single room with its own bathroom. The room is small (I guessed this is just like that in Florence) but clean and comfortable. Bathroom is clean and good too. The...

I and my husband recently stayed in this hotel for two nights (13th & 14th of June 2016). Though these are old buildings without elevators, I will never recommend this hotel to elderly people (specifically with luggage). We had to climb up 74 steps every time we went out. However we were well informed about this. We checked in at...

Hotel location easy to find and the room is clean. However, if you are travel with big luggage, you must be move the luggage to 4th floor to reach the hotel as there is no elevator provided. The staff is friendly and she give me a local map when we check in.

Best choice for a budget trip. Excelent location Friendly host. Small clean room with tv wifi and air conditioned. Lots of info materials at the info desk. Only downside is the lack of private toilet. Beside that you will feel like home in the middle of beautiful Firenze.

In an overpriced Florence, this is a good option if you're searching for something a bit cheaper with a good location in the centre, only a few minutes walking to the Duomo. The hotel is on the third floor of a building without an elevator so it's quite the climb, especially if it's very hot outside and you have heavy...

Although up a long flight of stairs with no elevator, the climb is worth it. This charming hotel has clean, comfortable rooms, an extremely helpful owner and staff, and it is warm and welcoming. Some rooms have their own facilities, some share a shower or WC. There is rarely a wait for a shared one, and they are always clean....

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
