It is hard to add anything new to what has already been written about this outstanding hotel, but a measure of the greatness of any establishment is not necessarily its number of stars but its caring and professional response to customer needs - particularly when unexpected difficulties arise. My wife needed quite urgent medical treatment (for a spider bite that... More

We spent 3 nights at Hotel Davanzati in July. Due to a train strike (try to avoid train travel in Italy on Sundays), we arrived very late (after 9:30) and Tomasso had already left, but he had assured us by phone that our rooms would be ready, which they were. We walked from the train station with lots of luggage... More

We had a great stay of six nights. The hotel gave us great value, a great location and great service, including making museum reservations before we arrived. The helpful, courteous staff did everything we asked. The "Happy Hour" gave us the opportunity to meet other guests and share experiences. No question, our hotel for our next visit to Florence. Lily... More

This is a wonderful little hotel in the heart of Florence. It is close to the major attractions and the rooms are a good size, very clean and well appointed. But the best part of this hotel is the hospitality. The hotel is run by a family that takes great pride in the experience they offer to their guests. They... More

We arrived at the Hotel from the UK for our Honeymoon, staying for 3 nights. I chose this hotel because of Trip Advisor reviews. This Hotel is truly a hidden Gem. If you didn't know about it you wouldn't see it. You go up a flight of stairs, with Hotel Rooms on 3 floors. The Hotel is owned and run... More

There appears to be no upper limit to the number of questions that Fabrizio and Tommasso will answer for you. Believe me, I tried. Stood at the desk for an hour each morning asking question about restaurants, sights, shopping, you name it. I even got a lesson on parking and driving within the city limits. Davanzati is one of the... More

This is a really great hotel. The location and service could not be better. An ideal location if you are visiting with kids as we did.

I booked this hotel because of all the wonderful reviews on this site and was not disappointed. My wife and I stayed here for two nights and loved the hotel and the location. Fabrizio and Tomasso are simply some of the nicest people that we met while in Italy. The hotel was renovated recently and is very clean with a... More

I stayed 3 days at Davanzati in July 2007, and it was a great experience since the moment you arrive. A friendly welcome by Tommaso was followed by a great explanation of the hotel and its services, and then he personally guided me to my room and showed it to me and told me everything I needed to know about... Hotel Davanzati was awesome, to say the least. We arrived just in time for the "happy hour," from 18 hours of traveling, with our two teenage boys! What a warm and wonderful way to be welcomed. My son had his first "bruschetta" and has been begging for it since! The hotel was really perfect in every way--clean, beautifully appointed rooms,... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
