Negatives: It turned out that a room facing Piazza della Indipendenza was not the advantage we expected: almost very night there were noisy gatherings of area residents in the piazza (which is really a park), which interfered with our slumber. And the absence of a screen on the window meant that keeping the windows open for ventilation also allowed some... More

We only spent one night there. It was very clean and the room was a nice size. It how ever a little hard to find. My husband went and walked around and finally found it. When he came back the manager was with him and took our bags to our room while we parked. If ever get back to Italy... More

It was our first experience with a hotel 3 floors above ground level. There are some medical offices and a hospital in the area but we didn't hear any sirens. Entry was at a nondescript door at the street. You push a button to announce yourself as a guest and they unlock the door. Then you ride the old fashioned... More

We stayed there for two nights in October. The hotel was hard to find, but more due to the winding and weaving of the streets in Florence than the hotel's location. Once we oriented ourselves, we didn't have any problems finding the hotel. We thought that the location of the hotel was nice, away from the commercial buzz of the... More

Our experience was ruined by a run-in with the owner. As their website advertised breakfast until 10:30 am, we went to the breakfast room at 10:05 am only to find that breakfast only goes until 10 am due to a change in ownership. We tried to explain the misunderstanding to the concierge who was quite indifferent and asked the owner,... More

Little charming hotel in the very centre of Florence, just a little distance from Mercato Centrale. Occupies the two last levels of a old clean building. Rooms are very clean, comfortable, and even silent (to be noticed in the centre of this big city !), with air conditioning. From the window of many rooms, you can see the Duomo and... More

Stayed here in late May for one night and was pleasantly surprised. Nothing fancy, but we got a great rate and everything was clean and comfortable. Front desk staff was helpful. Location was very convenient and the views from our window were lovely.

Worse place we ever stay and charge us 256euros a night for a very out dated room. I was bitted all over my face and legs by bugs in that room. Malfunction of the elevator. U unpleasant owner! It is more a B&B then a hotel. What a shame to rip off clients like us just because of a tour... More

The hotel is fine. Some rooms have beautiful views. The cappuccino machine makes nice cappuccino and there’s a little terrace. But the hotel is hard to find – no sign visible from a distance, so make sure you have your map (preferably electronic). There’s a pretty noticeable smell of cigarette smoke in many places. The hotel takes up third and... More

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighborhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo’s lively merchants shout out from behind stalls with an array of products in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Florence. Different ethnic groups join together in the large outdoor market of San Lorenzo and in the Central Market, a vast multi-floored building. Visitors are bound to fall in love with this area and in particular, with its variety of food, especially those focusing on Florentine dishes as well as international selections. Nobody leaves San Lorenzo without a shopping bag in hand or with an empty stomach.
