It was great to stay for a week back at Bargellino. I have stayed at the hotel now several times and wouldn't stay anywhere else in Florence. Carmel, Pino and Rositta make you feel like your family and really go out of their way to make sure you feel comfortable. In fact, in my last three visits I have always... More

We arrived and Carmel was immediately very helpful with information and always made it clear that she or Pino were available to help if needed. We loved our room and wished we were there in Spring or Summer so we could enjoy their lovely deck. They very kindly invited us to join them for New Years Eve, which we did,... More

We loved Hotel “Il Bargellino” in Florence. I reserved early because we were to spend 15 nights between two cruises. Our stay in Florence turned out to be the best part of our long trip because returning to the “Il Bargellino” after a day of sight seeing was like returning home. While all ten rooms can use the marvelous terrace,... More

My wife and I just spent 5 nights here. Other than one night, we were the only ones here (since it is low season). So needless to say, it was quiet and relaxing ... just perfect at the end of a long 3 week journey. We had a wonderful sleep every night. The best thing about this hotel is its... More

I had intended to stay at Il Bargellino for 3 nights with a friend, and extended the stay for an additional 3 nights on my own. First the obvious things that others have written about - it is in a great location for being close to all of the tourist sites and on a side street to be away from... More

We stayed two nights at this lovely hotel. A short walk to the station and very close to good restaurants. 10 minutes to the Duomo. We had a double room with private facilities and our room had a door directly onto the large rooftop terrace which was a terrific space to chill after a day of sightseeing. tHe owners were... More

This hotel is like staying in someone's home. Had a really nice room on second floor that opened out onto a beautiful deck. It was rainy while we were there, so we didn't get to use deck as much as we would have liked. Bed was comfortable and we had an ensuite bathroom. There are some rooms that do not... More

I was recently in Florence and stayed at Il Bargellino over the first weekend in October. I had met the owner many years ago and much to my surprise, she is also from Boston. I have been to Florence many times over the past 20+ years but this was the first time I stayed here. The room was a good... More

We thankfully found this hotel last minute for one night and it was great! Great location. Quiet at night. Very clean and comfortable. Good showers! And a lovely rooftop terrace. Carmel was so very helpful and patient with all of our inquiries about the area. If I come back, I would love to stay here again.

The proprietor was most helpful with organizing my visit to Florence prior to my visit. All done simply via email. My little room was perfect for my needs and most affordable. Wi-Fi internet is excellent. The hotel as a whole was very charming and welcoming. The location is ideal for walking tours to anywhere in Florence. I would return for... More

Staying in San Lorenzo

Neighborhood Profile
San Lorenzo
San Lorenzo’s lively merchants shout out from behind stalls with an array of products in one of the most traditional neighborhoods in Florence. Different ethnic groups join together in the large outdoor market of San Lorenzo and in the Central Market, a vast multi-floored building. Visitors are bound to fall in love with this area and in particular, with its variety of food, especially those focusing on Florentine dishes as well as international selections. Nobody leaves San Lorenzo without a shopping bag in hand or with an empty stomach.
