Located in the heart of the city, The Place Firenze is an exceptional haven, more like a sophisticated Home than a hotel, adored by everyone who stays behind its discreet townhouse facade. Inside, it is elegance epitomized, with centuries worth of artifacts and lovingly homemade food served all day in its comfortable lounges. This is where different stylistic philosophies are harmoniously joined together: a Charles X fireplace, objects from the 70s, neoclassical furniture and lamps from the 50s, fit perfectly with the sleek masculine soft-colored décor. In between forays to explore the city, retreat to the hotel for drinks or perhaps a homemade cake. Watch the world go by on the al fresco Terrace in Piazza Santa Maria Novella, relax with a spritz in The Bar or on the private Rooftop Terrace with its citywide views. The Kitchen, with its refined atmosphere, serves excellent organic Tuscan and Italian specialties. The knowledgeable concierge team will happily arrange exclusive and unique experiences.

A little piece of Heaven in Florence
We have travelled throughout the world and have finally found our home away from home. This trip was in part a celebration of our daughter’s graduation from film school and in part our own celebration of retirement. We were greeted at the door by Michel, the gracious manager, who took time to show us the hotel and then ushered us to the hotel’s private patio overlooking the Santa Maria Novella piazza and offered us drinks and refreshments while our luggage was swept away and our rooms opened. The hotel is architecturally stunning. Artistic, tasteful, blending in with the colors and style of the Santa Maria Novella itself. Each room is a treasure of refinement and delightful appointments. Someone has taken great pains to anticipate every one of the guests’ needs and wants and attended to all the details, big and small. The location is perfect: a short walk to any museum, historical destination, shopping, or restaurant but also a location itself looking onto the beautiful church and courtyard. All of this is superb, but the reason why we will be back again and again is because of the staff. Within minutes, they made us feel like family while attending to every need. An unforgettable stay that we look forward to returning to.

The Place to be in Florence
This is not a usual hotel, this is a place you feel HOME. I would say that this is one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. From the very beginning you feel wanted and cared for here. Experience starts from the door, when you have to ring an actual bell to come in and receptionist welcomes you to The Place, proposes a welcome drink and takes care of your luggage. We had a penthouse, and that’s just breathtaking. The view from the bathroom on the second floor is overlooking Firenze Dome and surroundings. Just imagine taking a bath with this one! The room is spacious, the bed is super comfy, we had welcome presents, and the minibar in the room is also free of charge. Cleaning in our room was made twice a day. The breakfast is included in the room price and you can have it served in the room or on the terrace of the hotel overlooking one of the beautiful Florentinian churches. Breakfast is also to die for. Very tasty and fresh! In this Place we found everything we dreamed for!

    Absolutely Wonderful!
We initially booked 3 nights but decided to extend our stay another night because we liked it so much. It’s a boutique hotel with impeccable service and well-designed elegant rooms. We stayed in Room #1 which had an adorable balcony and awesome view of Santa Maria Novella church. The entire hotel is very tastefully done. Breakfast is delicious & included - it is served on time each morning in a beautiful presentation with elegant serving ware. The location is perfect and walking distance to everything Every single staff member were professional, friendly and went out of their way to accommodate you. We left very impressed! Will most definitely return. One of my new favorite hotels. Thank you!

This was my first time in Florence and in this boutique hotel. The service was great, the kindness of the staff made me feel at home from the first instant. Breakfast was delicious and I particularly loved the Ginori porcelain that the restaurant uses…so colorful and original choice! I stayed in a superior room, ideal for my quick break. Next time I will travel to Florence the room with the terrace with Duomo view will be my choice!

I don’t write many reviews but we were so pleased with our experience here! When we arrived from the airport, they welcomed us so warmly and sincerely, at first I thought perhaps they mistakenly thought we were someone else! 😄 But actually over the course of our visit, we saw that they are really just that friendly. Entering into the hotel, you feel like you are coming home each time. The room was clean and well furnished, with a welcome fruit plate and nice amenities. And as Americans, we appreciated the fridge with cold drinks and the air conditioning which really worked (you can’t always find this even at the best of hotels). Breakfast is excellent and we had perhaps the best coffees of our trip at the cafe. And the location is walking distance to just about all the major sights— right across from Santa Maria Novella and five or six minutes walk to most everything else on this side of the river. The concierge helped us with reservations and someone was always available to book a taxi or answer a question. Cannot recommend it enough. We’ve been to Florence many times and tried many hotels, but this one will always be our pick going forward.

The Place Florence is absolutely perfect. The attention to detail is like none other. The reception staff are so on it - they take care of everything so beautifully and effortlessly. The rooms are immaculate; linens are of the highest quality, the room decor is sumptious and are spotless. The food in the restaturant is delicious and creative. Every single employee is engaged in making your stay one to remember. Absolutely love this hotel you will not regret staying here ever.

The hotel is beautiful and boutique with good service, but it definitely lacks some points to warrant a 5 star rating. Staff: Michael, the front desk manager, as well as waiters Paul and Diego were standouts from the staff. Rooms: We had 5 rooms for our family... We had 2 Santa Maria Novella Master Rooms. Both overlooked the front of the hotel, although only one had a terrace. The room was a decent size, but for almost $2,000 a night, it should be. However, these 2 rooms never got cold, despite asking daily for them to fix it, and we woke up sweating every night. The bathrooms were ok and did have a tub, although only 1 sink. The real miss in this room though was the shower. It was so incredibly small, you could not get out from under the rain head to even wash your body without turning off the water. Again, for the price of this room, the shower should have been bigger. We also had 2 Deluxe Rooms and 1 Executive Suite. They all had internal views and small bedrooms. However, the bathrooms and showers were far better than the Santa Maria Rooms, and the A/C cooled the rooms just fine. The rooms have Smart TVs with chromecast which is always a nice feature. Bath products: The shampoo, conditioner and bath gel came in tiny metal tubes that were difficult to open and close while showering. The tubes also fell onto the shower floor constantly. It was a very odd choice. Bedding: The bed was comfortable and the linens and duvet were very soft. Food: The food in the restaurant and room service was overall pretty good. Laundry: We sent out quite a bit of laundry in one room. The hotel uses an outside service. They lost part of my clothes, and the rest came back and were not even washed. They smelled the same as when I sent them out and were still wrinkled. The hotel did take care of it for us, but it took several follow-ups to track down as much of the missing items as we could recover. Overall, a beautiful hotel but not deserving of 5 stars.

We had a wonderful stay at The Place. It is truly one of the best luxury hotels we have ever stayed in, and we have tried quite a few. The location is superb, and the hotel itself, including the great suite we stayed in were absolutely outstanding, tasteful and elegant decor, great beds etc. Food at the restaurant is of a very high standard even for Italy. Best of all, however, were all the great staff. All were very friendly, highly qualified, and all contact was extremely pleasant.

Prior to our trip I was very torn between staying at The Place or the St. Regis and I am so glad I picked The Place. The service was phenomenal and felt very personal, the room was beautiful and comfortable, and the breakfast was the best my husband and I had at all the hotels we stayed at during our two weeks in Italy. It is also in a fantastic location. I would highly recommend staying the The Place and intend to stay again on our next trip to Florence.

The Place Firenze was the ideal choice to spend a week in Florence. The location is good, the staff excellent, the food & drinks delicious, and the room & bath -- just the best. Breakfast each morning was the perfect way to begin the day. The concierge made reservations for us at unique restaurants each night, purchased high-speed train tickets to Bologna & explained how to use the Italian rail system as well as the layout of the Bologna station (yes, we could have done this ourselves but it was great to have the task streamlined), and graciously answered all questions about sites to visit. There are many more positive aspects -- check them out!

The setting is nice and the food is tasty, however, the menu is very limited and the portions very small. Wine list is limited and wine by the glass is very expensive. It’s next to a boutique hotel and I guess that is where the tourists come to be given what for me was poor value for money.

We only stayed for a night (thank god) in June on our way to a sailing trip on the island of Elba. I only heard good things about this hotel from trusted travel agents and had high hopes. I did not expect The Place which prides itself of the highest level of personalised service (and charges accordingly) to fail to deliver on our most basic requests: With only 1 night in town, I wanted to make sure my partner and I had a relaxed evening with a nice dinner and drinks. We reached out to the hotel a week or so in advance to get a restaurant recommendation and reservation. We chose ‘Osteria Tee Planche’ which the concierge recommended during email exchange and I asked him to make a booking for us for 8ish for dinner… that never happened and we did not hear back from the concierge or anyone else from the hotel ever again… when we arrived and inquired about the table: no one knew of our request; we asked several times at front desk: they wanted to take care of it but nothing happened. After several follow up emails and me asking directly at the front desk several times, they simply said: we cannot reach the restaurant, but we will find you a table somewhere… Seriously? They promised to follow up in the afternoon and inform us via phone and off we went for some shopping… guess what: we never heard from them. So we decided to pass by the restaurant and were lucky enough to catch a free table at 7:30pm. At 9:15 pm after we were finished with dinner and were enjoying dessert, I received an email from the hotel saying: ‘we got a table for you at 9:30 pm tonight. Enjoy your dinner…’ they must be kidding me, I thought, that really left me speechless! Also drinks were messed up: we asked for the concierge to book us a table at the beautiful and popular terrace of Hotel Continental for some pre dinner drinks. Concierge says: ‘they do not take reservations during this time of the year, you should just go there.’ When we arrived at the terrace, guess what: first thing they ask is whether we have a reservation and that we would need to wait in line for 20 minutes or so if we did not… On a more positive note: the terrace on Piazza Santa Maria Novella is nice and we enjoyed breakfast and lunch there. Upon arrival, we were upgraded to a deluxe room which was newly renovated, but still tiny with no views, but access to a small courtyard which was totally bland and sterile with no plants/flowers or chairs to sit on. Room/bathroom fixtures were all new, too new… the water tabs in the sink were installed the wrong way and we burnt our fingers with burning hot water when we washed our hands; the telephone was so new, there were no telephone numbers stored or provided anywhere so we needed to call front desk using our private mobile phones… all of these observations were reported to front desk during the first day, but nothing was made to remedy any of these mishaps. I won’t even bother to mention other smaller issues here. Only when confronted with all these issues we faced during our short stay the next day, did they let us know they were massively understaffed due to COVID absences. I really get that it is tricky to operate a hotel during these times: BUT you cannot simply charge premium prices and not deliver on your guests’ most basic requests, and not communicate proactively and openly, but instead simply hope the guest would not notice. When they were all apologetic, I first fell for it. But thinking about it: front desk had the time to chit chat with us, 2 different managers gave us an extensive tour of the hotel and room. While we did appreciate this, at the same time, they could have simply taken care of our reservation and other basic requests… At least, they should have tried to make up for it and offer some kind of compensation in such a case which they did not really apart from a farewell drink. We paid approx €700 per night for a tiny room incl of breakfast due to Leaders Club status. For the same price per night, we recently enjoyed a longer stay at Hotel Helvetia & Bristol around the corner which not only assigned to us a massive Junior Suite facing Palazzo Strozzi, but also has a most impressive Roman bath in the basement with pool, sauna, ice room etc, which is free to use for hotel guests and they were also able to get us some of the best tables in town without us having to chase… With such fierce competition in this part of town incl the excellent Helvetia&Bristol and the newly opened spectacular Palazzo Portinari Salviati, both at similar price points, but with much bigger and more impressive rooms and fantastic facilities like top notch SPAs with pools and Michelin starred restaurants, I wonder why anybody should consider staying at The Place Firenze.
