Located in the heart of the city, The Place Firenze is an exceptional haven, more like a sophisticated Home than a hotel, adored by everyone who stays behind its discreet townhouse facade. Inside, it is elegance epitomized, with centuries worth of artifacts and lovingly homemade food served all day in its comfortable lounges. This is where different stylistic philosophies are harmoniously joined together: a Charles X fireplace, objects from the 70s, neoclassical furniture and lamps from the 50s, fit perfectly with the sleek masculine soft-colored décor. In between forays to explore the city, retreat to the hotel for drinks or perhaps a homemade cake. Watch the world go by on the al fresco Terrace in Piazza Santa Maria Novella, relax with a spritz in The Bar or on the private Rooftop Terrace with its citywide views. The Kitchen, with its refined atmosphere, serves excellent organic Tuscan and Italian specialties. The knowledgeable concierge team will happily arrange exclusive and unique experiences.

We have travelled throughout the world and have finally found our home away from home. This trip was in part a celebration of our daughter’s graduation from film school and in part our own celebration of retirement. We were greeted at the door by Michel, the gracious manager, who took time to show us the hotel and then ushered us to the hotel’s private patio overlooking the Santa Maria Novella piazza and offered us drinks and refreshments while our luggage was swept away and our rooms opened. The hotel is architecturally stunning. Artistic, tasteful, blending in with the colors and style of the Santa Maria Novella itself. Each room is a treasure of refinement and delightful appointments. Someone has taken great pains to anticipate every one of the guests’ needs and wants and attended to all the details, big and small. The location is perfect: a short walk to any museum, historical destination, shopping, or restaurant but also a location itself looking onto the beautiful church and courtyard. All of this is superb, but the reason why we will be back again and again is because of the staff. Within minutes, they made us feel like family while attending to every need. An unforgettable stay that we look forward to returning to.

This is not a usual hotel, this is a place you feel HOME. I would say that this is one of the best places I’ve ever stayed.

From the very beginning you feel wanted and cared for here.
Experience starts from the door, when you have to ring an actual bell to come in and receptionist welcomes you to The Place, proposes a welcome drink and takes care of your luggage.

We had a penthouse, and that’s just breathtaking. The view from the bathroom on the second floor is overlooking Firenze Dome and surroundings. Just imagine taking a bath with this one!

The room is spacious, the bed is super comfy, we had welcome presents, and the minibar in the room is also free of charge. Cleaning in our room was made twice a day.

The breakfast is included in the room price and you can have it served in the room or on the terrace of the hotel overlooking one of the beautiful Florentinian churches. Breakfast is also to die for. Very tasty and fresh!

In this Place we found everything we dreamed for!

We initially booked 3 nights but decided to extend our stay another night because we liked it so much. It’s a boutique hotel with impeccable service and well-designed elegant rooms. We stayed in Room #1 which had an adorable balcony and awesome view of Santa Maria Novella church. The entire hotel is very tastefully done. Breakfast is delicious & included - it is served on time each morning in a beautiful presentation with elegant serving ware. The location is perfect and walking distance to everything Every single staff member were professional, friendly and went out of their way to accommodate you. We left very impressed! Will most definitely return. One of my new favorite hotels. Thank you!

The JK is extraordinary, it is like being a guest in an elegant home with the warmest of hosts. The rooms are luxurious and the design lovely but what makes it special is the staff. From your welcome in what feels like a cosy study, to never having to give your name or sign for anything, it is like being greeted and looked after by friends. Lovely food and excellent restaurant recommendations. Lorenzo also organised two super trips, one a private day trip around the Tuscan vineyards and to Siena, one a walking tour of Florence. One small tip - a bell on tables (like in Japan) to call staff from the terrace might be useful? But that is a tiny suggestion - how otherwise do you improve on perfection? We almost don't want to go to another JK in case it isn't so special. I was there for my birthday and was given a little cake and a gift of their wonderful "house room scent" - I'd asked where to buy it so a thoughtful choice.

The public spaces in the hotel are lovely, particularly the restaurant that sits on the piazza. We thought that the service in the restaurant, particularly by Zacharia, was impeccable. The breakfast, appetizers, and cocktails were great.

Where the hotel falls short is in two areas - first and foremost, they did not require guests to wear masks indoors although it is required by Italian law. We rarely, if ever, saw a guest indoors wearing a mask. We wore ours and were saddened that the staff, who also wore masks, were not empowered to uphold the law.

Perhaps the key disappointment in this hotel was the room, which is better described as a shoebox. No window, 1 sink, mini shower, and when laying on the bed my hands could reach the walls. At over $2550 for 4 nights we expected a bit more space as well as amenities. We did realize that during our stay the hotel was hosting an event for travel agents, who basically took over the property for 2 of our 4 days. It is likely they got the premier rooms.

Our friends were staying at the Hotel Lungarno, which was our second choice. We looked at their room and the hotel property sitting right on the Arno and realized that we would have been much better off there.

Response from Cristina Visconti, Marketing at The Place Firenze
Responded Aug 17, 2021
Dear Guest, Thank for taking the time to write such a detailed review, we always ask and appreciate feedbacks, although this one really hurts. The Superior Room (25sqm) is the lead-in category, all rooms in the Hotel do have a window and majority of Superior Rooms face the nice internal courtyard. As mentioned also in our correspondence we are very sorry to hear that you didn’t like the room; If you would like to give us a second chance and visit us again, we would love to let you experience a different room or Suite category. Regarding anti-covid measures we have a massive health & safety enhanced protocol that we follow and constantly update since the opening. As you could see, we send an email with several anti-covid rules to all our Guests before their arrival and we have signs in many different areas of the hotel reminding Guests the anti-covid procedures. We also always invite our Guests to wear the mask indoor when we see that someone is distractedly not wearing it, so we apologize if someone has been missed. The truth is that during our daily operations it is not always easy to check everyone in every moment, also because we trust in our Guests’ education and common sense. Best regards, Claudio Meli General Manager

Located on the square of Santa Maria Novella and among the breathtaking landscapes of Florence, The Place stands out as a perfect example of luxury and charm. Our recent stay at this remarkable hotel was an experience that surpassed all expectations, we were truly enchanted with the whole experience.

From the moment we arrived, the warmth of the staff set the tone for an unforgettable stay. The team at "The Place" embodies the epitome of hospitality, their genuine smiles and attentive service creating an atmosphere of comfort and care. Their dedication to ensuring every guest feels welcomed and valued was both genuine and truly commendable.

The hotel itself is a masterpiece, seamlessly blending classic Italian architecture with modern elegance. The interior design exudes sophistication, with every corner adorned with tasteful décor and artistic details that evoke a sense of grandeur. Our room was a small sanctuary after a long day, beautifully designed to provide comfort. The attention to detail in the accommodations is simply exceptional, offering a serene retreat after a day of exploring the wonders of Florence and the surrounding countryside.

The Place boasts a prime location that allows guests to immerse themselves in the culture of Florence. Step outside, and you're greeted by iconic landmarks, renowned museums, and charming cobblestone streets brimming with life. Thankfully during our stay in November 2023, the city was not too brimming! The convenience of the hotel's location made it effortless to explore the city's treasures, which we did on a daily basis.

The food and service at The Place also provided an experience to savor. The hotel offered us and other Americans a Thanskgiving dinner that was truly spectactular, as were all the dishes offered at their restaurant. It was truly a testament to the artistry of Italian cuisine. The culinary team's passion for creating memorable dining experiences shines through every bite, leaving a lasting impression.

The amenities provided by The Place cater to every need and desire. the hotel ensures a holistic experience that exceeds all expectations.

The Place in Florence epitomizes what you think of as a boutique hotel and is a sanctuary of hospitality that defines the epitome of a perfect getaway. The exceptional staff, impeccable service, stunning ambiance, central location, delectable cuisine, and luxurious accommodations collectively create an experience that lingers in the heart and beckons a return.

An extraordinary boutique hotel overlooking the Piazza di Santa Maria Novella staffed by caring, discrete staff who go out of their way to attend to any need you might have. We were fortunate to have a sun-drenched room directly overlooking the piazza (Room 6) that was meticulously appointed and beautifully decorated. The entire hotel has undergone a spectacular redesign. But as beautiful as the property is, the truly differentiating factor is the attentiveness of the staff, who go out of their way to make you feel that this little oasis is your home during your stay. We have travelled the world extensively and stayed at many fine boutique hotels under the banner of "Leading Hotels of the World" and "Relais & Chateaux" and we would rate The Place Firenze as one of our most enjoyable stays. The location is superb: close enough to the city center to enable a short walk to any of the major attractions but not so close as to be overrun by tourists. And its position on the perimeter of the piazza gives you a sense of uncrowdedness that is not easy to find in Florence. And if you are traveling by train (our next stop was the Gritti Palace in Venice) the proximity to the Florence train station is an added bonus. Enjoy your stay!

Yes all the superlatives apply in this discrete boutique hotel. Also very conveniently located, near the station, on the beautiful Piazza, and a short trot to all the main attractions!
Staff all delightful, particularly the front of house/concierge for whom nothing was too much trouble, and they had wonderful local advice on eateries and places to go.
My only small negative (which i told the hotel) was the breakfast service which went all a bit slow and chaotic with the 2 hardworking waitresses disappearing for long periods - i asked if they were making the breakfast too?! but that aside the food was excellent and the waiting staff lovely.
Room sizes and aspect vary hugely - some looked very internal. so i would be choosey and avoid the cheaper rooms.
But we will definitely stay here again

The setting is nice and the food is tasty, however, the menu is very limited and the portions very small.
Wine list is limited and wine by the glass is very expensive.
It’s next to a boutique hotel and I guess that is where the tourists come to be given what for me was poor value for money.

I don’t write many reviews but we were so pleased with our experience here! When we arrived from the airport, they welcomed us so warmly and sincerely, at first I thought perhaps they mistakenly thought we were someone else! 😄 But actually over the course of our visit, we saw that they are really just that friendly. Entering into the hotel, you feel like you are coming home each time. The room was clean and well furnished, with a welcome fruit plate and nice amenities. And as Americans, we appreciated the fridge with cold drinks and the air conditioning which really worked (you can’t always find this even at the best of hotels). Breakfast is excellent and we had perhaps the best coffees of our trip at the cafe. And the location is walking distance to just about all the major sights— right across from Santa Maria Novella and five or six minutes walk to most everything else on this side of the river. The concierge helped us with reservations and someone was always available to book a taxi or answer a question. Cannot recommend it enough. We’ve been to Florence many times and tried many hotels, but this one will always be our pick going forward.

We booked a superior double room which did not face the Palazzo. The room was very nice, quiet and had a large bathroom, but did not have much of a view. The Piazza is usually restricted to traffic unless they have a permit, but emergency vehicles are allowed access. Since we stayed in August, there was not as much traffic as June. I suggest contacting the hotel directly for more information on the noise level for Palazzo. Hope this helps.
