I stayed in a private room and whilst there was nothing fancy, it was nothing less than expected of a one star hotel. It is wonderfully located for walking to the main attractions of Florence, and super close to the SMN train station. Importantly for me, I felt safe leaving my things there while I was out an about. The...

Service was pretty poor. People were kind of rude and not helpful. Showers weren't good and the rooms were kind of falling apart. If you're traveling on a budget/not expecting much though, this place isn't horrible. Location right by everything you wanna see and beds, etc. are acceptable. The breakfast is jokes though so don't even bother.

We found this place very last minute and kind of had no choice but to stay here because every place was booked. It was soo over priced for what we got. My sister and I stayed in a double bed room that was hot, smelled, and the bathroom sink drain spewed water all over the floor everytime you turned it...

I've never wrote a TripAdvisor review because they aren't really my thing, but gosh... Someone needs to stop these outrages... First of all, they give you pictures that do NOT show the real rooms. Those are either fakes or rooms of whatever hotel that they stole to make their 'thing' (I honestly can't call that a hotel) look 'acceptable'. It...

Although it is good located, close to S. M. Novella station, it is a bad choice! Toilets are dirty, poor infrastructure, only 3 plugs in a room with 6 beds. Wi-fi does not work. And you need to pay 2 euros to keep your luggage in the hostel. It is not expensive but I do not recommend it!

Even though it is a small one star hotel, the personnel is highly qualified, and made our trip nicer. The common bath was never occupied, the room was clean. Thank you for your hospitality! You deserve more than a chocolate:) and I forgot....the location in great, right in the center Irina & Mircea

The staff were friendly and very helpful with getting us settled in and giving us directions. The wifi worked well, but would only work in the lobby. The bathroom was clean and spacious, however each bathroom has many designated rooms so you could end up waiting a while in the morning. The beds were comfortable and clean and there was...

Originally booked at the Locando Rocco hotel but when we arrived we saw the sign on the door saying the hotel was closed for refurbishment and we needed to go into the reception in the hotel opposite. We were a bit confused (would help if the sign was bigger!) but the nice lady from the other hotel brought us over...

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.

“They aren't bunk beds, they are just single beds in a row but there is no real place to store your luggage other than under your bed. I would suggest asking the desk attendant for a map and about interesting places around the city, it will be very helpful, trust me.”
