Hotel Sole, recently re-opened under a new management, is a one-star hotel located in the heart of the historical center of Florence. The hotel is in fact situated on Via del Sole, inside the district of Piazza Santa Maria Novella, in a strategic point to visit on foot all the attractions and cultural and artistic treasures which have made Florence one of the most popular tourist destinations in the world. The location of Hotel Sole is simply perfect: it’s at only 300 m from the railway station of Firenze Santa Maria Novella and it allows you to reach by walk the Duomo, Ponte Vecchio, the Uffizi Gallery, Palazzo Pitti, Piazza Santa Croce, Via Tornabuoni, the Accademia Gallery and Boboli Gardens, as well as the new Parco della Musica in Parco delle Cascine. The hotel is also close to the Fortezza da Basso, the major trade fair center of the city, and the Palace of Congresses.
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.

Nice, small clean room with a bed, a bathroom and a shower. Nothing fancy but just a good place to stay if you come to see the city and not to stay in your room. Elevator a bit claustrophobic but it worked and better (for...More
