The Hotel is small but clean and the breakfast buffet is good, although the ommeletes ran out very quickly and you have to wait for the next batch. The staff and the owner Mr. Giovanni are very friendly, he even upgraded us to another room on account that my parents had stayed at this hotel a couple of years before.... More

Just across the station SM Novella! An excellent place we enjoyed our stay. The fro t office, especially Mike was truly helpful who not only helped us to guide us to best utilize our 2 days, but also got us in a day tour of Tuscany: San Giminiano, Pisa, wine tasting at Chianti winery & Sienna! 2nd day admiring Florentine... Others have captured it well... It's very, very near station, right next to the tram stop and within easy walking distance of most city centre attractions. Price fair, but worth booking direct, as it cuts out the booking fees paid by small businesses to travel orgs like Trivago/Booking.com/Expedia etc., and they're quick to respond to emails, even to last minute... I selected this hotel because it appeared on a map to be very close to the central train station in Florence! I was correct! It is incredibly close! If you get off the train, take the escalator down, go toward the front of the building through shopping corridors and turn right, you will find a ramp to the street! No... More

We chose Aurora because it is directly opposite Santa Maria Novella Station which we needed early the following morning. It was a perfect decision. We were welcomed like old friends and assured we had a good, quiet room at the back of the hotel, which we had requested. The room was much larger than we would have expected and indeed... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
