We were very pleased with our 6 night stay at Soggiorno Panerai over the New Year holidays. Our hosts were extremely nice and accommodating, and even left a card and a bottle of champagne in our room on New Year's Eve! The room was fine, always clean. The shower was in a separate area than the main bathroom, which wasn't... More

Central position in Florence, nice breakfasts in the room. The personnel very helpful and friendly also gave advice about trattorie ( restaurants) that were very good and priceworthy. We will absolutely go back to this B&B again!

Took the chance from previous Firenze Marathon runners, and wasn't disappointed. Although there are closer hotels and B&Bs to the start and finish venues, this was quite appropriate and more price friendly - indeed, it was great value for money. The breakfasts were awesome and the hosts were very accommodating with my marathon morning breakfast request. A small number of... More

My wife and me stayed here 2 months ago and was very happy with our stay. Alena and her staff were fantastic and we were served breakfast in our room every morning. We had a large triple room and was happy with it as all other type of rooms were fully booked. Furniture are old but it make it look... More

Family run B&B at walking distance from everything you want to see in Florence. The hostess is absolutly charming and will share with you her best tips for eating and sight seeing. The room we had was furnished with antique 1700-century furniture, and decorated in renaissance style. Comfortable bed, luxurious bathroom, home made breakfast in the room. A bit of... More

Not only was the location superb, so too was the service. The accommodation was A1 and our breakfasts unbelievably good. It addition the help we received organising our day in Venice was well above what could be reasonably expected. Thank you so much for a truly memorable time.

We had a 6:30 a.m. flight out of Florence and the owners promised to reserve us a taxi the night before. When the time came, they couldn't do that because the taxi drivers decided to go on strike that very evening. Since no buses run to the airport before 6:00 a.m. we were in a very difficult position. The owners... More

I knew this was a small (5room) B&B when I booked. What I didn't realize is that it is located within a residential building that houses other businesses and maybe private apartments. I mention this only because it was hard to find. We decided to walk from MSN train station, but with luggage, foot traffic (pedestrians mob the streets of... More

The location was excellent. We had room #2 with a nice view of the courtyard, spacious, quiet and clean room. What makes this place special is the innkeeper Albena. We had an early tour on our first day and she came in early just to cook us delicious omelettes. She had great restaurant recommendations, local info and called us taxi's. Next... More

Owners spoke excellent English. Albina went over and above for breakfast. Cooking omelettes and fresh croissants. We ate so much for breakfast we didn't eat again until dinner. Location was only a block from the academia and duomo. We were able to walk to all of the major sites.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
