Camping Michelangelo lays in the heart of Florence. It is a really good location. City centre is very close, view is great. But... shame on the bathrooms and toilets. Would need an upgrade. When you take a shower water is coming back, actually you are swimming in your and others used water. This was our one night stop during our... More

The club wasn't that loud at all, particularly if you use ear plugs (which you should). The tents are SUPER nice (like seriously wow). The bathrooms were as clean as I would expect a hostels to be and were a lot cleaner than most camp sites in America. Bug spray is definitely a must though (but that's just Italy). Luggage... More

This campsite is not the worst one i've ever stayed at. The location is both amazing and poor. Pros - ~ 15 mins from florence and normal sight seeing ~ amazing view of the city!! Truly great to sit at the resto/common area to have a drink or pizza. ~ friendly staff at the reception who are very happy to... More

Came here for a few days this month to draw Florenz. We went to the restaurant to eat some pizza. They we super rude and told us we had to leave our table because they needed it for service. 2 Italiens needed a table so we were not allowed to sit and enjoy our pizza. This is just insane, it's... What we did not like: 1. Check in and check out takes very long, with a long line and slow attendant who struggled with the system. He took our passports at check-in, assuring us to return them the next morning when the system worked. 2. Tent rooms are hot with no ventilation. We were disturbed the whole night with noisy... AU $56 a night for a tent and beds for three people with a 15 minute walk to town. That's $22 per person. Fantastic. You are very close to a the Plazza Di Michelangelo which gives an amazing view of Florence from across the river, A great starting point before heading into the city.

The location is Amazing with a spacious terrace overlooking the city of florence. The fixed tents are also comfortable with clean sheets and pillow, but no plugs to recharge devices inside. It's a 15-20 minut walk downhill to the city center.

When we first arrived at the campsite there was a bit of a mix up with out room and resulted in one of our party (there were four of us so one was in a seperate tent) being in a tent quite far away instead of next door which was disappointing. In addition to this the showers were not great... More

We've camped here at least 4 times - always coming back as we love the location & facilities. Bus stop just outside the entrance, pizzeria & bar with lovely terrace overlooking the Duomo, awesome coffee at breakfast, shop. Walk into town is from Piazzale Michelangelo down some old steps & entering San Niccollo district through original city gate (near where... More

Staying in Piazzale Michelangelo

Neighborhood Profile
Piazzale Michelangelo
Just outside the ancient walls of Florence, Viale Michelangiolo starts. It is a winding road rimmed by wonderful poplars and holm oaks. The long ascent opens up to the most beautiful and famous panoramic viewpoint of Florence: Piazzale Michelangelo, where an elevated terrace offers visitors an incomparable and breathtaking view of the entire city from above. During good weather, Piazzale Michelangelo provides visitors with a serene space surrounded by the amazing landscape, better if accompanied by a fresh gelato from a local kiosk. During night, visitors will be dazzled by the warm lights of the capital of the Renaissance. Spend a second with the silent Romanesque beauty of the Basilica of San Miniato al Monte: the one that wishes good morning and good night to Florence!
