All that was good about this hotel was the location the breakfast was poor, the facilities poor and a request for ice was not possible. I would recommend looking for an alternative unless you really want to be this close to the city centre for this price

This hotel is literally right next to the Duomo making it pretty easy to find.Great central location. About a 12 minute walk to the train station. There are about 5 stairs to get up to the elevator to the main lobby. The lobby and eating area are clean, very typical of many Italian hotels. To get to the rooms you... More

My sister and I had an overnight stay at Hotel Bigallo last month. The Hotel is situated in the Centre, next to the Duomo, We were warmly welcomed by the male receptionist (unfortunately we didn't get his name) who took our bags and showed us to a truly amazing room(s)! It was split level, the living area downstairs and a... More

We stayed here for two nights and I can honestly say that everything was fine. The room was clean and the hotel is very central...right next to the Duomo and a very short walk from everything else! The hotel reception is on the third floor and our room was up an internal staircase - this information is clearly stated on... More

We chose this hotel based purely on location and a few promises made on their website (bad move on our part). Firstly a positive, the location is absolutely amazing. The Duomo is just outside your window, which makes finding your way back to your hotel really simple. Unfortunately, that is the only positive I can think of. When we arrived... More

Incredible location, but that is about it. The breakfast was basic at best. Rooms are outdated. Elevator exit is tricky and will likely cause anyone who is not sure footed to fall. The service was unacceptable. Due to Chiarra's lackluster attitude and zero attention to detail our checkout was delayed well over an hour. No apologies, just apathy. So many... More

Unbeatable location, right on the square which is incredible if your room is on that side - mines wasn't. My room looked onto an ambulance bay - we booked a hotel on the square so that we have the view, i can't believe they stuck us at the back looking at an alleyway. The main problem was the rooms, they... More

Very comfortable room and very nice accommodating staff. The breakfast was basic but just what you needed to set you up for the day. The Hotel is fabulously placed for sightseeing and places to eat, shop etc. Would definitely stay again. Point to note the entrance to the hotel is at the side of the shops up 3 flights of... More

I stayed here in June 2015 although the hotel is nothing to look at from the outside, even the entrance is tucked up a side alleyway that leads to a garage where all the ambulances you see in the square are parked. Once you enter the hotel you get into a very small but fast lift that takes you up... More

What a great location - just a few meters from the main square, Duomo, Baptistery and Bell Tower. It's also an easy walk to the Academia, Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio and much more. There are lots of places to eat nearby as well. The hotel itself is very nice, clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. The only minor complaint... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
