This is a great hotel situated right in the heart of Florence, overlooking the Duomo (literally- have a look at the picture). The rooms were spacious with plenty of cupboard space, aircon and a good size bathroom. The staff were friendly and professional, and the service was excellent. Breakfast was generous and a good quality. The only (small) con is... More

The location couldn't be better. Walking distance from the train station as well as all local attractions. The hotel staff are very helpful. The breakfast is average - classic continental. The room was air conned but thin walls (could hear next door going up their stairs). The duomo is directly outside of the hotel - less than a minute away,... More

Hidden away up a side street you'll find the hotel. The reception is on the third floor, if you've got cases, use the small list but be careful the door seems to have a mind of its own! Friendly and very helpful staff. The rooms are small, but air conditioned, and if you are lucky, like us, you are rewarded... More

Dear Peter, Thank you very much for the time you spent writing your review! First of all, thank you very much for the kind words about our staff. We always do our best to help our guests. We are located in the very core of the city center, so we understand that sometimes nightlife can be loud - our windows... More

Be careful stepping in and out of the elevator. Not only is it tiny but we feared losing our fingers in the door which slammed shut quite quickly. Once we stepped off the elevator and into the lobby, we were excited because the check in area is beautifully decorated and there is a great street view overlooking the Duomo. However,... More

Tiny room (they all are in Europe) comfortable though. Tiny breakfast area but plenty to eat, very small lift which could be a problem for some. Could fit no more than 3 at a squeeze. We used the stairs. Good if you can. Great location to everything. Can walk everywhere. right across the street (really) from the Duomo. The bells... More

Dear SFK20162016, Thank you very much for your review. The kind words you spent for our Hotel were greatly appreciated. About the lift, it is not very big, indeed - almost all historical palaces in Florence, like the one in which Hotel Bigallo is located, have small lifts, since these structures were built long ago: lifts had to be added... All that was good about this hotel was the location the breakfast was poor, the facilities poor and a request for ice was not possible. I would recommend looking for an alternative unless you really want to be this close to the city centre for this price

This hotel is literally right next to the Duomo making it pretty easy to find.Great central location. About a 12 minute walk to the train station. There are about 5 stairs to get up to the elevator to the main lobby. The lobby and eating area are clean, very typical of many Italian hotels. To get to the rooms you... More

My sister and I had an overnight stay at Hotel Bigallo last month. The Hotel is situated in the Centre, next to the Duomo, We were warmly welcomed by the male receptionist (unfortunately we didn't get his name) who took our bags and showed us to a truly amazing room(s)! It was split level, the living area downstairs and a... More

We stayed here for two nights and I can honestly say that everything was fine. The room was clean and the hotel is very central...right next to the Duomo and a very short walk from everything else! We chose this hotel based purely on location and a few promises made on their website (bad move on our part). Firstly a positive, the location is absolutely amazing. The Duomo is just outside your window, which makes finding your way back to your hotel really simple. Unfortunately, that is the only positive I can think of. When we arrived... More

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
