What a joy to return to Firenze and find Merlini just as clean, efficient, friendly and charming as when I first visited 20 years ago. This family owned Albergo is a gem! They've done improved the facilities with televisions and WiFi. It is a joy to know some things are just as they should be.

We stayed here for 3 nights. Location ideal, just far enough away from the busy central streets, but only a 5 minute walk into the centre. Getting from the Santa Maria train station also an easy 5 minute walk. Could not fault the staff at the hotel - nothing was too much, extremely friendly... The extremely chirpy gentleman owner even... More

I booked the hotel for a business trip which also included traveling with family. When I got to the building the place didn't looked too impresive (hotel on 3rd floor, no lift, off-date building); however, from the first moment, the service was very good. The owners take care of everything, and they are always happy to help (sorted out how... More

Access from the train station is a 5 minute walk. Streets are paved and flat shoes are recommended. The hotel is on the 4th floor with lots of stairs. Not for someone who has walking difficulties, The room itself was nice and clean and had all the basics. TV, shower, hairdryer, clean towels etc. Lots of lovely restaurants to choose... More

Very good value for money. Short 5 min walk front train station and very easy stroll to the Cathedral. Rooms quiet and spacious. 4th floor with no lift, so no good if have restricted mobility. Otherwise perfect!

I am sorry .I do not like to give negative reviews but my abiding memory of Hotel Merlini is of the 88 steep steps to get there and the strong smell of stale cigarettes. The room itself is comfortable enough but cleanliness could be improved. We had a room at the back which was unfortunate as there is currently a... More

The hotel was at walking distance from Mercanto and train station but there was a bumpy stretch of road to the hotel if you are walking with your luggage. And it was at the third storey which was about 5 or 6 flights of stairs to the hotel. Probably good for those traveling light as there was no lift to... More

I was really pleasantly surprised by how good this hotel was. I had booked what seemed like a good price for Florence but expected the hotel to be fairly worn and creaky. However, I found an extremely clean and beautifully furnished hotel, with an excellent shower and comfortable beds. Other useful extras were toiletries, a TV, a mosquito net and... More

The place was clean and owners were personable and very nice. Towels were replaced clean and fresh everyday. One cupboard has a key to lock. Value for money. Note: have to climb 4 floors though. However do not expect hotel service. It's really a guesthouse in the home of a nice family. Some rooms do not seem to have ensuite... More
