This is hands down our favorite hotel in Italy. We've been to Florence many times now and always stay at the Albion. Sara, Massimo, Susanna, Nik, and everyone else who at this hotel is amazing to work with and so helpful. The rooms are comfortable, the location is conveniently walkable from all of the tourist sites (but also far enough... More

We had the pleasure of staying 4 days in this hotel during our time in Florence, and we truly enjoyed it. The room was spacious, clean, and well equipped. However, the true highlight of the hotel is the owners,Sara and Massimo. They made us feel at home and were always there to help out with directions and suggestions about places... More

This is one of the best hotels in Europe holding by very nice family. Everything there made with lot of love and huge sense of style. Very friendly and helpful staff. Every time I visit Florence I stay exactly in this hotel.

Great service from owner Massimo and his daughter Sarah. One of them always seemed on duty. They both had a can do spirit. Room was clean and comfortable. Location was also very good and loaner bicycles made getting around town very convenient. Would definitely stay there again too.

We recently stayed here for two nights. Got lucky and received a family-sized room. Very spacious, both the living area and bathroom. Clean, comfortable with plenty of linen towels and furnishings. The room had a cozy, mid-twentieth century feel. Also included was a bidet, deep tub, TV and safe. Locking and unlocking the door was a little tricky so make... More

The hotel is located on a small but busy junction and even with the window shutters closed it was quite noisy. Also my room was rather dark as the only window was small and high up. Apart from that the room was a decent size, bathroom ok, although I would have preferred a bath, and everything seemed clean. A nice... More

I just returned last week from my third straight year to visit Greece & Italy with students from our school (Kingdom Prep in Lubbock, Texas). During our 12 day trip, we stay at a number of 3 & 4 star hotels; however, the Hotel Albion is always my favorite. This hotel is unique, warm, and the service is superb. The... More

If you want a sweet, clean, inexpensive, and unique place to stay in Florence, you won't find a better one. The family who owns this intimate hotel is wonderful. The rooms are named after famous women, which is a big plus in my book. We stayed for 10 days and felt very much at home and well cared for. The... More

We spent a wonderful two nights at Hotel Albion in mid-October, 2015. This is a family-owned and run three-star hotel, with the family very active in the management -- father. mother, son and daughter. The family has managed the hotel for five generations, and it shows in the care and attention they pay to their guests. Even when we had... More

Very lovely little hotel in an 1800s building. Location was great, everything was within walking distance. Major car rental agencies as well as a parking garage were also nearby (adjacent street) and returning a rental was really convenient. The decor throughout and the warmth of the hotel owners (especially Sara) really made it seem like we were staying with friends... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
