We stayed at Hotel Alessandra. One reason we picked it was because of all the great reviews AND the staff's hilarious comments to reviews that mention the "stairs" :D We knew there was something fun about this place :) Ironically, the stairs are not a big deal AT ALL! And there's a lift! I think you will find stairs at... More

What a fabulous title - it totally sums up what we want to be - if everyone is having fun, including our staff! then it works better for all, and happy guests are virtually guaranteed! You do of course get prize of the season for your wonderful comments about our stairs. How many times have we been sorely tempted to... More

My husband and I stayed four nights in the Hotel Alesandra in a quiet, spacious room with a comfortable bed. The friendly staff went out of their way to make sure that our needs were met.Breakfast was excellent. We would stay at the Hotel Alessandra again.

We are the second time here and it was even better than the first time. It is not suitable for wheelchair acces and for light sleepers but otherwise is the place to stay in Florence! You are steps away from tourist attraction and 15 minutes walk from the train station. The staff is amazingly kind and joyful!

Located just few minutes away from Ponte Vecchio, hotel Alessandra is a gem! Staff are extra friendly and so helpful, they are smiling and never fail to answer your questions. The hotel has the Florence spirit inside, everything looks nice. We loved our room and the bathroom as well 😁 Breakfast is basic but does the job of keeping you... More

If you are looking for a small boutique hotel that is affordable, simple, clean and quiet this is the place. Great location! We had no idea we were going to be spoiled with such great service. We were greeted by the owner Andrea who is such a kind man and grew up in the place. We loved hearing some of... More

Stayed at Hotel Alessandra with my partner in a river view double room for 2 nights and it was just fantastic. We arrived early and the friendly staff let us check into the room early (which was a relief after 29 hours of traveling from Sydney to get there). Even though it is 1 street back we still had a... Well Sydney is kind of a long way away! We always do our best to have some rooms ready a bit earlier so that we can accommodate weary travellers before they faint in the reception area! We can't always manage it, but if we can, we do! We are delighted that you enjoyed your time with us, and we look... More

The hotel is in a good location to get to most of the sites in Florence. Everything is within walking distance, which makes it a nice place to stop and drop things off in the middle of a day of site seeing. The hotel accommodations are a little dated but the room was clean and a decent size. Breakfast is... More

We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us, and you are right, we are very convenient for dropping things off in the middle of the day, or even (in this very hot weather) for a sneaky mid-afternoon snooze! Thanks so much for taking the time to write here - we appreciate every single comment! More

The Hotel Alessandra is beautiful, first of all. Breakfast is plentiful and very good. They give you a cocktail when you arrive - on the house! The neighborhood is wonderful. You are two blocks from the Arno and the Ponte Vecchio, steps from the Uffizi Gallery. The staff at the hotel - whether at the front desk or at breakfast... More

We particularly loved the words "service-oriented" - we do our very very best, and are so pleased that you noticed. Also, it's a little known fact that happy customers and happy staff make our jobs really enjoyable (as well as hard work of course). We look forward to your next visit to our town! More

My 13yr old son and I stayed here for 4 days. We were pleased with the immediate and friendly help we had at every interaction with the staff. We are so pleased that you both enjoyed your stay so much. As for the mini-bar point, that particular service is normally found in 4/5 star hotels (we are just 2 small stars!) and they are mostly being phased out now as cost ineffective. We introduced our honesty bar just a couple of years ago to make up on that... More

If location is a key factor, this hotel has it: short walks to just about everything major to see. Further, the rooms are nicely decorated and very large by European standards. To say that the staff is attentive is almost an insult as they work hard to make your stay great. You might even call them "characters". Breakfasts were included... More

Can you even begin to imagine how many time we have run up and down those stairs with luggage!! :-) Yes, we agree, everyone should know about our stairs before coming. However, you forget to mention that 93 steps at last twice a day means at least one extra ice cream, and maybe a glass or two of extra wine!... More

Staying in Uffizi

Neighborhood Profile
Uffizi
Every visitor coming to Florence for the first time will immediately identify with Uffizi. As in past times, passing through Via dei Calzaiuoli, you can reach the city center, the Florence that everybody dreams of. In just a few steps, visitors can experience the rare beauty of the capital of the Renaissance. walking delighted across Palazzo Vecchio and overlooking Piazza della Signoria, up to the Loggia of the Uffizi where it is possible to fully taste the talent of the best artists who animated Florence over the centuries. When the sun goes down, there’s nothing better than a walk along the river Arno up to the ancient bridge, Ponte Vecchio. It is full of jewels and decorated by the colors captured in postcards.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our family run hotel is right in the heart of Florence old town - near to the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio. Without doubt, Hotel Alessandra is one of the most centrally located hotels in Florence. In this privileged position, Hotel Alessandra offers a home away from home, with our friendly team and extensive knowledge of the local area. The hotel entrance is situated on the second floor of the building. You can reach the reception floor using the lift, small but working fine (in the 1400s buildings hadn't been designed with this in mind!) But please note that there are around 30 steps from the entrance on the street level to the departure of the lift. We very much look forward to seeing you! Andrea and Anna ... more   less
