Stayed at Hotel Alessandra with my partner in a river view double room for 2 nights and it was just fantastic. We arrived early and the friendly staff let us check into the room early (which was a relief after 29 hours of traveling from Sydney to get there). Even though it is 1 street back we still had a... The hotel is in a good location to get to most of the sites in Florence. Everything is within walking distance, which makes it a nice place to stop and drop things off in the middle of a day of site seeing. The hotel accommodations are a little dated but the room was clean and a decent size. Breakfast is... More

The Hotel Alessandra is beautiful, first of all. Breakfast is plentiful and very good. They give you a cocktail when you arrive - on the house! The neighborhood is wonderful. You are two blocks from the Arno and the Ponte Vecchio, steps from the Uffizi Gallery. The staff at the hotel - whether at the front desk or at breakfast... More

My 13yr old son and I stayed here for 4 days. We were pleased with the immediate and friendly help we had at every interaction with the staff. We even were standing in a line at a major attraction and were able to call them and they were able to help us get a reservation at another site, thus sparing... More

We are so pleased that you both enjoyed your stay so much. As for the mini-bar point, that particular service is normally found in 4/5 star hotels (we are just 2 small stars!) and they are mostly being phased out now as cost ineffective. We introduced our honesty bar just a couple of years ago to make up on that... More

If location is a key factor, this hotel has it: short walks to just about everything major to see. Further, the rooms are nicely decorated and very large by European standards. To say that the staff is attentive is almost an insult as they work hard to make your stay great. You might even call them "characters". Breakfasts were included... More

Can you even begin to imagine how many time we have run up and down those stairs with luggage!! :-) Yes, we agree, everyone should know about our stairs before coming. However, you forget to mention that 93 steps at last twice a day means at least one extra ice cream, and maybe a glass or two of extra wine!... More

This hotel is on a quiet side street about a block from the Arno River and the Ponte Vecchio. The rooms are refurbished rooms in an ancient building. There is air conditioning, a must in the summer in Florence. The owners are very attentive and helpful. The breakfast which is included is plentiful and good if basic. The only downside... More

The Hotel Alessandra is located in the middle of everything- it overlooks the Arno and you can walk to most of the attractions from it includeing the Duomo and the Boboli gardens. Yet it is quiet and the the rooms are lovely and spacious- we had one overlooking the river. Tthe breakfast is nice and the woman who works at... More

Great location! Don't stay here if you have heavy luggage because the elevator is very small and only goes part way. Very nice staff and a good, reasonably priced breakfast. We has a junior suite which was expansive and their climate control was quite good

Glad you had a good stay with us! We are not sure that we agree that heavy luggage should put anyone off (we have run up and down those stairs with some huge suitcases - what on earth do you put in them??). But we would say that we are not right for anyone with lots of young children, or... More

Book if you can! Hotel Alessandra is a PERFECT location to spend a few nights in beautiful Firenze. While it's rated a two star hotel, this gets my vote of five stars for location alone. The incredibly friendly staff, their hospitality, the comfort of the room ensuite with tub, rain-shower, toilet, bidet, cool air conditioning, free wifi, and delicious breakfast... More

Loved this place! People were great and went above and beyond the call of duty. Breakfast was fabulous ! Air conditioning good. Beware ...... Americans .... You must walk up the stairs to get to hotel . After walking all day that was hard to do. Good exercise though.

"Beware Americans"?? Oh we have had Brits, Italians and even beach-toned Ozzies point out our stairs! Everyone notes the stairs - after two days of wine, pasta, gelato, desserts and more, everyone loves the stairs! :-) Thank you! More

Staying in Uffizi

Neighborhood Profile
Uffizi
Every visitor coming to Florence for the first time will immediately identify with Uffizi. As in past times, passing through Via dei Calzaiuoli, you can reach the city center, the Florence that everybody dreams of. In just a few steps, visitors can experience the rare beauty of the capital of the Renaissance. walking delighted across Palazzo Vecchio and overlooking Piazza della Signoria, up to the Loggia of the Uffizi where it is possible to fully taste the talent of the best artists who animated Florence over the centuries. When the sun goes down, there’s nothing better than a walk along the river Arno up to the ancient bridge, Ponte Vecchio. It is full of jewels and decorated by the colors captured in postcards.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our family run hotel is right in the heart of Florence old town - near to the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio. Without doubt, Hotel Alessandra is one of the most centrally located hotels in Florence. In this privileged position, Hotel Alessandra offers a home away from home, with our friendly team and extensive knowledge of the local area. The hotel entrance is situated on the second floor of the building. You can reach the reception floor using the lift, small but working fine (in the 1400s buildings hadn't been designed with this in mind!) But please note that there are around 30 steps from the entrance on the street level to the departure of the lift. We very much look forward to seeing you! Andrea and Anna ... more   less
