The hotel was in a great location near the river and walking distance to everything we wanted to see. The staff was so helpful! Can't say enough good things about them! The rooftop terrace was a great place for a quiet glass of wine.

A family run hotel. Great location - 2 minutes away from Pointe Vecchio, on a quiet street. 15 minutes walking from the central train station. Stayed in room 24. Unfortunately, no view. But that was not a problem - we only used it to sleep. The staff is good. Especially, Monti at the front desk. He full of energy, cheerful,... More

The Hotel Alessandra is located on the upper two floors of a refurbished old palace. It is ideally located adjacent to the old historic center. It is only a five minute walk to the Uffizi Gallery and the Ponte Vecchio bridge. The entrance is nondescript and located in an alley. It requires the climb of 2 flights of stairs before... More

We visited with 6 couples for 2 nights on our way to a villa in Tuscany. Yes, there are a lot of steps but we managed and the exercise helped with multi course meals and wine! Our room was spotless and comfortable. Breakfast was great. The staff was very helpful, plus their wine prices are very reasonable. We walked all... More

This hotel is in a great location, just a little over 1 block from Ponte Vecchio. The rooms are pretty basic & small, but clean & quiet. The staff is wonderful - very friendly. There is not a lot of public space to hang out, but they do have a nice roof top terrace to enjoy the view & a... More

Following a pretty full-on friend's wedding near Orvieto, we opted to extend our Italian trip to spend 3 nights in Florence. Great central but quiet location. Our room (11) was at the rear of the property and was huge, with glimpses of the river from the window. The staff were friendly and welcoming. They were happy to make restaurant recommendations... Nice hotel. Clean, inviting, close to everything. The staff was very professional and friendly and accommodated any of our requests. Easy to work with and very knowledgeable about the area. Stairs could be an issue for some, but most travelers will have no problems. Beside, we must work off that gelato!!

Ok, let's get the stairs out of the way first. There are a lot of them. From the front door to our room was exactly 100. There is a small lift that starts after the first set of stairs and ends at reception but there is an additional set of stairs from reception to the rooms. After eating all of... More

Whilst the staff were friendly the rooms and breakfast let things down Beware that this hotel is up several flights of stairs (yet there is a very claustrophobic lift) but it only starts on the first floor The room was clean but no clock, no tea coffee etc The bed was ok (but two joined up singles) and a room... We always hope that our stairs are the most talked about stairs in the world. We talk about them here, on our Facebook page, we tell people about them in emails. Our aim is that no-one ever gets here without knowing about our stairs! but apparently we need to work even harder! Regards the cases, you could have just asked!... More

Staying in Uffizi

Neighborhood Profile
Uffizi
Every visitor coming to Florence for the first time will immediately identify with Uffizi. As in past times, passing through Via dei Calzaiuoli, you can reach the city center, the Florence that everybody dreams of. In just a few steps, visitors can experience the rare beauty of the capital of the Renaissance. walking delighted across Palazzo Vecchio and overlooking Piazza della Signoria, up to the Loggia of the Uffizi where it is possible to fully taste the talent of the best artists who animated Florence over the centuries. When the sun goes down, there’s nothing better than a walk along the river Arno up to the ancient bridge, Ponte Vecchio. It is full of jewels and decorated by the colors captured in postcards.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Our family run hotel is right in the heart of Florence old town - near to the Uffizi Gallery and Ponte Vecchio. Without doubt, Hotel Alessandra is one of the most centrally located hotels in Florence. In this privileged position, Hotel Alessandra offers a home away from home, with our friendly team and extensive knowledge of the local area. The hotel entrance is situated on the second floor of the building. You can reach the reception floor using the lift, small but working fine (in the 1400s buildings hadn't been designed with this in mind!) But please note that there are around 30 steps from the entrance on the street level to the departure of the lift. We very much look forward to seeing you! Andrea and Anna ... more   less
