As the title indicates, this is a sort of a palace. And "palace" means "old"... This is exactly it ! The hotel is old in itself, and everything is old within. I do not mean "old style", I just mead "used to the bone". Apart this, the staff is charming, there is parking available (appreciated in the old town), and... More

The best way to describe Palazzo Ricasoli is to say, if you want to live like a local, stay here! As soon as you walk into your room, it feels as if you have rented your own apartment and are living in Florence as the Florentines do. The rooms aren't exactly fancy, but that's what I loved about them. If... More

Visited the hotel a couple of years back and received excellent service from the reception staff, especially remember them for the forwarded Christmas greetings that was send to us there but reached after we left. Great rooms and a very relaxing atmosphere. Would love to go back.

This hotel/residence boasts exceptionally large rooms (ours had two levels) that can comfortably fit groups. The hotel was comfortable and well-located. It's Florence so you're likely not spending much time in your room. If you're too tired to go to dinner after a full day of touring, be sure to have some rustic Tuscan pizza at Pulcinella steps from the... More

Our room was in a what appeared to be a newer part of this motel and overlooked the courtyard. Large external blinds could be closed so we enjoyed a darker room and a morning sleep in. The room itself was spacious though the bathroom was a little on the tight side as was the shower cubicle. That said, we had... More

This was my second stay at this hotel. First was about 4 years ago. At that time they were doing some remodeling to the front desk area. Both stays were with groups as part of a pilgrimage. This last time(beginning of second week of September) my group was put in the side of the building above the reception area. I... More

This is a good hotel in a good location. Easy to walk to the centre. I would have given it 4stars, but for a few things which I consider important. Staff were a bit serious, but no complaints. The room was clean and comfortable, so again, no complaints. The shower and the bath could have been a lot better. Water... More

Hotel situated in the heart of the city but the area was noisy at night until fairly late. Very close to most amenities and we walked for miles and miles. Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
