We stayed here, for 2 days, as part of a group tour. The hotel is on a small street away from the busy tourist area. We're city dwellers & we walked everywhere. Even coming back late in the evening didn't feel risky. We arrived to Florence via train. The hotel is walking distance, without luggage of course. The proximity of...

Superb sized room but as a country dweller it was far too noisy. First the bin men made their loud dawn chorus at 7.00 a.m. Everyday. Secondly the air con was sold old it woke us up at three rattling as though it was chattering with the cold. So we asked for it to be turned off so we could...

The apartment was clean and spacious. Breakfast was excellent. We walked to the residence from the train station but in hind sight we should of taken a taxi. It didn't look far on the map but the little cobble stone footpaths gave the suit cases a battering. We could not fault the hotel in any way.

The hotel had amazing statues and grounds. It needs modernizing and was not really a 4 star hotel. The rooms we had were large and clean but rather shabby. Breakfast was okay. They had no restaurant and the bar was not manned very often.

Nice hotel with the amazing entrance. Ok reception. Large rooms, but dated and need of modernisation. Wonderful with wifi and excellent breakfast. Very warm in the room and you hear a lot of noise from neighbor-rooms. Overall a good value for the price.

Rustic look and not far from town centre. The room is very small for 2 people, poor lighting and the room is not very clean. The shower is very small, not enough shampoo for two people, the wooden basket which contains shampoo and soap has mold, shower door is broken, toilet seat is broken, toilet flush is not working properly...

The hotel staff were great. They did the utmost to look after our dietary requirements. The rooms leave a lot to be desired. Our room was large but the shower leaked a lot. Others in our group had extremely small rooms which included very small bathrooms.

The palazzo is an updated old palazzo with modern room amenities. The staff are friendly and helpful speak several languages and the breakfast has great selection. However I do suggest don't bring your old cheap mug from home to get that big cup of coffee or tea in the morning Italians may have smaller cups but just have two. It...

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
