I stayed here with a large group of my family members for three nights. The location was very close to the train station and the Accademia gallery, and most other main attractions are easily walkable from the hotel. I stayed in a junior suite with my mom and two young children, and we had more than enough space for all... More

This hotel is less than 5 mins from San Marco and a short walk from Accademia, Duomo etc, which is quite convenient. The hotel looks very grand from outside but the room itself as well as in-room facilities are very average. Also, while the neighborhood is close to some landmarks, San Gallo is not as nice as some of the... More

The hotel is in a great location: right by San Lorenzo Piazza. Throughout our stay our room was cleaned to a high standard. It would be helpful to have information about the hotel, rather than just the history of the Medici family. For instance- we did not know about the blackout blind until we found it by accident. It would... More

Dear Gemma K, Thanks for the review you left. We usually say at check-in about the blind shutters for the windows in some Deluxe Rooms, and I am sorry if we forgot in your case. we will pay more attention to that in the future. I am nevertheless sure we told you about dropping your room key everytime you go... More

On arrival through to departure staff were not always great. There were one or two members of staff that were far friendlier than the others. However, one evening when returning at just past midnight we were locked out of the hotel for over 40 minutes as the receptionist disappeared and the main entrance doors were locked. The breakfast was ok... More

Dear Natasha, Thanks for the review. First of all I have to apologize for your night inconvenience, but I also must say that it was partially your fault. At the check-in we always ask the guests to respect a few simple house rules, like leaving the key at the desk whenever you go out of the hotel. In the night... More

We stayed at this hotel in early June. The room was classically styled, with air conditioning and good sized well equipped bathroom. We had a double room (no view) and another member of our party had a good sized single room. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Small, nice outside terrace. Small breakfast room, which became a little cramped when busy!... More

The room we had was huge and very clean. The staff were very friendly and helpful. They have good breakfast. Hotel is close to everything. The AC and elevators had some issues but they resolved it quickly.

The room is perfect with the Renaissance atmosphere.I feel great about living in my room. It is wonderful. The service they provide is nice, too. However, be careful about the pigeons while having breakfast. They are always trying to steal your food.

Staying in San Marco

Neighborhood Profile
San Marco
The pleasant atmosphere of this residential area, a stone’s throw away from the Duomo of Florence, surprises everyone. A continuous flow of backpacking students provides the tranquil surroundings for the elderly residents who sit in Piazza San Marco to read the daily newspaper. Home to several universities, including the Academy of Fine Arts, San Marco is one of the most vibrant cultural centers in the city. A bridge connecting the modern cultural activity of Florence to its classic art, represented by the everlasting magnificence of the original David, resonates as a symbol of Florence and of Italy as a whole. Get lost in a Neoclassic world, a journey back in time through historic buildings like Spedale degli Innocenti (Hospital of the Innocents), San Marco church, Basilica della Santissima Annunziata, and natural jewels like the Botanical Gardens.
