Situated on a quiet, tree lined street within walking distance of the river, train and buss stations. Staff were really chatty and helpful! plenty of choice for breakfast whatever you prefer continental/cooked. Room was large and airy overlooking the street. We wouldnt hesitate to book this hotel again when we visit Florence again.

This hotel is in a beautiful old building a little way from the centre of Florence but close to the river and easily accessible. The service was basic until the lady that we saw on the Monday morning when we checked out, she was much more friendly and helpful and more what we would expect from a quality hotel. The... More

The hotel is at walking distance to the train station and the Piazza del Duomo. We had a big clean room with large windows overlooking a quiet street, a comfortable bed and a spacious bathroom. The staff present was incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. Excellent breakfast with everything you would want. Decent WiFi. Highly recommended!

We stayed at this hotel as part of a tour package. I read the hotel description on its website and was quite looking forward to staying there as we generally enjoy boutique-style accommodations but after reading some reviews – particularly the reports of lack of cleanliness – I became somewhat apprehensive. However we recognized that even though the travel literature... More

A bit far from centre of Florence (at least a 10 minute fast walk), but close to the American Embassy. Quiet, clean. Rooms are small and basically furnished. The staff were very helpful and recommended local restaurants that were excellent as well as ones further away. It was warm and has an updated lounge area and I hope they update... More

My husband and I spent four nights in Florence at the De Rose Palace. Owners Leonardo, his wife Rossella and their son Matteo with their staff Giada and Daniele took very good care of us. Everyone was helpful and courteous at all times. The Wi-Fi worked well which was good news to us because we had problems in other parts... More

I spent a few nights here travelling alone. I had a small but very pretty single room with a very small attached shower room. The bedroom was clean and the location is fantastic - it's just a ten minute walk to the Ponte Vecchio. The hotel is down a quiet street, in an area filled with large Florentine houses and... More

Our travel agency booked here for us. It is centrally located (15 minutes walk to Ponte Vecchio). It is an old Florence House. So it was very nice staying here. Staff was helpful, Rooms were clean. If I come again to Florense I definitely stay here again. And there was free good quality wifi.

It is centrally located ( 10 m walking distance from city center ), hotel is fairly clean, free wifi and staff are very helpful. At reception, a very nice lady called " Jada" was helpful enough to arrange all our tours during our short visit to Florence. Thanks jada

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
