Good standard of hotel, full of character - very clean! We had a nice double room with its private balcony, minibar, good standard bathroom. The manager Dominic was very accommodating and helpful - couldn't do enough for us. it is very close to the main railway station but also walking distance to most of Florence's must see attractions - we... The first thing that strikes me in this hotel was the old fashion style, with metal key that you need to drop at reception when you go out (reception opens from 6am to 1am), and the all wooden furniture. The room was clean and the bed confortable though it was really 2 mattresses sticked together so you can't sleep in... More

Room are a bit sombre and old fashioned, but clean e spacious. Best thing is the location: next to the railway station, next to S Maria Novella, next to supermarket and bar, you can walk ten minutes and be at the Duomo. Breakfast is nothing special, I expected more. Personnel very kind, they speak good English and German. Mind no... More

Room is clean, comfortable and in a good location. The hotel is within walking distance from the rail station. Hotel staff are incredibly helpful and very friendly. The neighborhood has a lot of restaurants and the hotel is within walking distance to shopping and the town square. Bed is comfortable; room is clean. It is small, but for one or... More

Everything was very clean, staff friendly and helpful. Nice breakfast. Fantastic location, we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go. They also had nice big umbrellas which we needed. The price was worth it. When I come back, this is where I'll stay!

It's a fairly typical 3 star (ish) hotel in Italy. What sets its apart though is three things. 1. It's location is great just moments from the train and bus stations 2. It's immaculately clean and 3. The staff on the front desk are excellent. Efficient, well-informed and extremely helpful.

I'm here at the moment in a very cold room. I asked about heat and was told there is none.I have a thin blanket and an old bedspread. Only one outlet to charge my phone and it is in the bathroom. The location is central and very close to the train station. Rooms are small and dated. The windows are... More

very practical location next to central train station, clean rooms, nice staff. The breakfast was good (not excellent). The street is noisy, but we had a nice room with a little balcony on the internal courtyard, very quite.

The location is very good, 10 minutes you are to the Dom and easily in any of the touristic place. The guy that guested us was very friendly and helpful. For the price the service was very good! NOTE: We got to the hotel by car. They have a negotiated rate with a parking place 5 mins away, ask at... More

Very basic hotel, located centrally about 10 minutes from main attractions. Very busy streets so noisy in every room you get. Rooms are very basic and small, beds are not comfortable, no tea/coffee facilities in the room. It was quite cold and there was only a thin blanket on the bed. Almost no sockets in the room to charge. Bathroom... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.

The Hotel Boccaccio is in the heart of the historic city centre, a stone's throw from the railway station, from Piazza Duomo and from the Church of Santa Maria Novella. The extremely recent and diligent re-structuring, valorized by the original Carrara marble, has made the presence of more modern comforts possible harmoniously combined with the authentic Florentine style.
