I stayed in Florence for two nights at this hotel. I was a little concerned because it is not in the city center but that turned out to be not a problem as three different buses run nearby and for 1.2 Euro you are at Piazza San Marco in ten minutes. I stayed in Camera 12 and seemed to have... More

- Quite a fancy hotel in a quite neighbourhood in the northeast of Florence. - I had my own bathroom, a comfortable bed, a little safe in a closet - When I opened my window, I stepped right onto a beautiful patio, with steps which lead to a garden below. - My room and bathroom were cleaned daily. - A... Far from the city but it's a pretty safe walk - Enjoyed the residential area of Florence. We had a nice room and the impressive terrace was a surprise. We overslept the breakfast, but the staff made us a cappuccino with brioche later anyway, nice and friendly people.

It is actually a very small hotel that looks more like a hostel, the rooms are ok but all have bathrooms, you can hear everything from the other rooms , so basically it is more for students, not really good if you want to relax. The staff speaks poor English and is not very helpful. What is really lovely is... More

Ok so we had a room with a private terasse that had nothing private (just a few trees barely hidind the 2 chairs and table) then we picked this room to have private bathroom which ended up by being either wc inside bathroom or bathroom inside wc meaning the wc were completely wet when you were taking your shower... To make this possible, some of our bathrooms have a shower. We regret that our breakfast offering freshly baked croissants, sweet and... More

Set in a more residential area away form the hustle n bustle of Florence old town. Basic but clean. No amenities nearby. Very handy however for the lovely villages on the hill just outside the city (some stunning places to eat). Serviced by bus if you don't have your own car.

The hotel is quite far from centre (about 45 min walk depending on your pace), but just a few seconds from the hotel is a bus stop. We spent there 4 nights, and loved the place a lot - it's cozy and home-like, and the interiors are very nice. The breakfast was good too. I would recommend to choose rooms upstairs, because our room on the ground floor was a bit too wet.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Hotel Ungherese is located in the quiet San Gervasio residential area of Florence, right off the lower slopes of the picturesque hills of Fiesole. Part of this enchanted surrounding, the hotel is a typical palace of the early 19th century. This hotel is a good choise for business travellers and also for tourists fascinated with the unique beauty of the art and architecture of Tuscany's main city.Antique furniture and pictures enrich the interiors of this most characteristic hotel, which has preserved the name given to it by its founder, a Hungarian gentlewoman whose historical memorabilia are still displayed in the halls: the coat-of-arms of the house of Austria and Hungary, the portraits of Prince Ferenc II Rakoczi, Hungarian hero and Elisabeth of Wittelsbach, the Empress of Austria and Queen of Hungary famously known as Sissi. Our hotel is only a few minutes bus or car ride away from the historical centre of Florence, and just a short distance from the Campo di Marte Railway Station and the main sports venues of the city, such as Artemio Franchi Soccer stadium and the Palazzetto dello Sport, venue of the Nelson Mandela Forums; also from Hotel Ungherese, the Saschall Tent Theatre can easily and conveniently be reached, and the same can be said for reaching the Foretezza da Basso, which is the venue of conferences, trade fairs and shows. You can suitably park your car in the immediate vicinity of Hotel Ungherese, or you can use a garage just around the corner at special rates for our guests. The staff is friendly and professional, and the hotel offers plenty of comforts to its guests, that are welcomed into a relaxing place where the familiar atmosphere is coupled with care for all details of interior decoration and furniture. Whether you want to call a taxi or you want to make a reservation or theatres, museums, planned excursions, air flight or train, the staff will always be at your disposal. Hotel Ungherese also offers wireless internet access that will allow you to use a high speed internet connection right from your room. All rooms have private bathroom, colour TV, direct telephone, safety box, hair drier, air conditioning and Wi-Fi. ... more   less
