We vim have visited Florence many times, and this is the best hotel we stayed in. The majority of the rooms have been renovated to a high standard, well located in the square and easily accessible in and out of Florence. We had a car which is easily parked through the hotel's concierge service, and were able to drive in... More

This was the best place we stayed at in Italy. We travelled for two weeks, stayed at four hotels. Everyone was very friendly. The hotel is in a great area. It is walking distance from train station. It is close to most of the great tourist sites. It is situated in a square that insulates it to a great extent... More

The room was updated and modern. The pool was in great condition and deep enough for kids to dive in. The hotel was close to the train station and a short walk to the center of Florence. Great staff, very friendly. Good breakfast selection. Would stay again.

Centrally located in Florence 5 minute walk from train station. Centrally located to most Florence attractions (walking distance). Enormous room on first floor with spacious bathroom, murano glass chandelier, big screen tv. Limited wifi. Abundant breakfast buffet featuring eggs, bacon, pastries, cheeses and meats. Rooftop pool which allows for wonderful panoramic views of Florence, however limited seating if you want... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our three night stay here. It is within walking distance of everything and the staff helped us with hotel reservations and directions. There are often street musicians in the plaza outside of the hotel, and we spent our time after dinner with a gelato, enjoying the music. Great breakfast buffet with terrific service.

We spent 3 days at the Grand Hotel Minerva during our 2 week holiday in Italy and we loved everything about this hotel! we booked a Premium Triple Room “Smart Comfort & Style” for EUR 335 per night and the main factor to book this hotel was that among many hotels in Florence this was the only one located in... Location is perfect, assistance is very pleasing, everyone is very kind. Breakfast is superb! The best scrumbled eggs ive tried. The hotel is beautiful, with big living rooms and excellent photography and art books to read. The terrace is amazing, with a breathtaking view to Florence and its Duomo. I will definetely Go back.

This hotel is not cheap, however it is worth its costs if you like the fact that the room is spacious, clean, cosy, romantic! That there is a bottle of water every day in your room, that in the heat of florence you can take a plunge in the roof swimming pool, that the service is super friendly, that everything... More

We stayed in this hotel for a total of 11 nights during our trip to Florence and Tuscany. As we were planning to take our time visiting everything in Florence and also roaming to other cities in Tuscany, I selected this hotel in part on the basis of its location. For visiting Florence just about everything is within easy walking... More

My wife and I stayed in this hotel on a recent holiday in Florence. On arrival we were given a room which would have been too small for a week's visit but we were able to get an upgrade at a reasonable price to a double room on the 5th floor overlooking Piazza Santa Maria Novella. This room was extremely... More

Dear Robin H, many thanks for having chosen us and for having reviewed us so kindly. I am sorry that you did not enjoy our restaurant: we have an almost completely new team with a very young and creative chef (he’s 24!). All dishes are made express and fresh and require attention. This said this should not lead to unpleasant... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
