I stayed here a few years ago and glad to see they have maintained things well. This hotel is literally a long block away from the Duomo and therefore highly convenient to everything you would want to walk to. We opted for a larger room this time which was much better. The breakfast buffet is no longer due to Covid restrictions. So now you order things from a menu that are prepared for you. It wasnt as memorable or as good, but it was ok. Elevators limit number of people inside since they are small (due to covid). Wifi is good. Bathroom is nice. Toiletries are nice. Air conditioning was super good - probably best I have seen in a hotel room in Italy. Via Martelli is mostly pedestrian only, but the very end of the street on which the hotel sits does allow a taxi to be right there. Hotel gives you the full minibar included in some rates which is nice when you want a cold drink. You also get a discount if you have stayed there before. Very nice.

Hotel is small boutique like. Rooms are as pictures on website except super small. Shower barely fits an adult. No bathroom counter space. Our room had flying bugs in it and the staff wouldn’t address it because they said I should’ve called when I saw it. Toilet ran all night. No room switch or discount.

Response from Elena Spalluto, Direttore generale at Hotel Spadai
Responded yesterday
Dear GiaTruPyt, first of all, we would like to thank you for your feedback. We are sorry you were not fully satisfied of the room size. We guess that upon booking guests make an aware choice since each room category has a detailed description, that includes square meters. About the shower, it has an italian standard square footage. However, our reception clerks are always available, 24/7, to assist our guests in order to find an option that fits their particular needs. Regarding mosquitos, it happens they enter by the window as in our private houses, and also in this case you just needed to call a receptionist to get an insecticide spray/diffuser. And again, we are sorry you didn’t ask for our staff intervention if toilet wasn’t working properly. In your comment you write that you didn’t get a room switch, but we didn’t have the opportunity to do it, since you reported what above only upon check out, when you asked the Reception Manager for a discount and she kindly explained you that there weren’t the premises to grant it. Hope you'll be able to visit us on a future occasion All my best wishes, Elena Spalluto Hotel Manager

Lovely hotel with perfect location - you can literally see both the Duomo of Palazzo Medici Ricardi from the main entrance. The Accademia and the Piazza San Lorenzo er just few minutes away. Florence has generally high standard when it comes to accommodation, and this hotel in no exception. Lavish breakfast, lovely room and bathroom. Fantastic service and great value for money

We had a great stay. Very quick check in. Highly comfortable room with top end bed. Smooth check out. Perfect location 10 mins from station and 2 mins from duomo. We took less than 30 mins door to door from hotel to airport with public transport. There is some outside noise as is referenced in some reviews - but it is right in the center of town with bars in the area. It was well insulated and not an issue.
