The staff was courteous but outside of generous size rooms and location, I was not overly impressed with the hotel. It is definitely not geared towards families with young kids. There were no cribs that they could offer for our infant son, no high chair and the dining area was cramped and not much of a selection for breakfast. The...

The hotel is within a few minutes walk to major attractions. The rooms were well furnished, large (by European standards), and clean. The bathrooms were modern and large. The air conditioning worked well keeping the rooms comfortable even though the temperature was 40 degrees Celsius! The staff was friendly. The only thing that wasn't great was the breakfast - it...

Stayed here 5 nights this month with my wife and 3 children (16, 12, 12). The location could not be better if you are interested in being in the middle of everything. You step out the door and everything that Florence has to offer is right there. Despite all of the hubub out front, our rooms were in the back...

Stayed at Calzaiuoli Hotel for 3 nights (3/15-3/18), and really enjoyed our stay. Repeating what many reviewers have already said, the location is superb, nestled between the Duomo and the Piazza Della Signoria on a busy street with lots of shops and places to eat. We arrived by train and it was only a short 10-15 minute walk from the...

My wife travelled up to Florence on the train from Cortona and stayed at the Calzaiuoli Hotel on the recomendation of some friends. The hotel was a very pleasant suprise. We were able to wallk to the hotel from the train station in about 15mins with bags in tow without dificulty and found the location very central to all that...

This hotel was in an excellent location, right near the Plaza de Republice in Florence, 5 mins. from the Doumo, 10 to the Offizi Mus.... Nice room in the back (much less noise) clean and great night's sleep. As with all European rooms not much room, but bigger than others I have been in and it had a refrigerator. The...

I was coming from Venice, where I had excellent days and stayied at Calzaiuoli because I liked the location. Surprisely, although it was reasonable clean (average), it does not have a place to spend some good time with your wife or friends (like an open bar or at least a confortable hall). The stuff are really not friendly and you...

My husband and I stayed here for two nights in September 2009. We got an incredible rate on the room by booking through the hotel website, so before we even got there I was a happy customer. The hotel is centrally located to all the major cultural attractions in Florance is is located on one of the main pedestrian streets...

Spent 5 days in Florence, with Calzaiuoli Hotel as our base. Central to everything, excellent room, very friendly staff. Maintenance slow (bathroom ceiling light bulb which we reported burned out on Monday was still not replaced by Friday). Wifi cost 15 euro for 5 hours, and was down for 2+ days, but staff quickly refunded our money. Housekeeping could be...

Stayed here in late October for a girlfriend getaway weekend. Hotel is in a prime location, right in the center of the main pedestrian area in Florence. Just down the street from everything- the Duomo, Accademia, Uffizi, Ponte Vecchio...anything you would want to see you can walk to. Had an issue with a lost camera and the front desk was...

Staying in Duomo

Neighborhood Profile
Duomo
Florentia, as it was called by Latins, is permeated by an eternal beauty spread in all corners of the city. The historic center is characterized by the immensity of the Duomo, able to transport tourists into the brightest age of Florence: the Renaissance. Who does not know the Brunelleschi Dome, San Giovanni Baptistery and the Giotto’s Campanile? Everything is enclosed here and it would be easy to imagine the city as it was in ancient times, with maids walking in the main square and horses carrying coaches. Nowadays, roads are busy with street artists. Rustic Tuscan bakeries give way to fashion shops; just stop for a few minutes in the middle of Piazza della Repubblica to enjoy the colors and sweet melody of the carousel that will bring back great memories from anyone’s childhood.
