The hotel is located in a great location very close to the main train station. The breakfast is great and the view is even better. The staff is very friendly. Now for the negatives. The bed is quite possibly the hardest bed I have ever come across in my life. I cannot believe they would make such a horrible mattress they did install a topper on the mattress for us but it was still a very bad sleeping experience. The room was also very hot even with the heat off no air circulating at all. We could not leave the window open because of the very busy street below. I think this hotel would be too 20 in the city if the beds weren’t so hard.

Hotel's Favorite
We booked a room with garden and it was beautiful in the traditional Florentine style. The room and garden were elegantly appointed, immaculate and quiet. The garden was the best place to spend time at the end of day to unwind. The staff are professional, courteous and respectful and very helpful. The dining room view is amazing! The breakfasts are sumptuous, lunch is five star! I’m just sad I didn’t book a dinner rez in advance from NY as they are difficult to get - but I can see why! We had an amazing stay and will be back! Thank you Deans Hotel Baglioni! Molto Bene!

Once the residence of the noble Carrega Bertolini family from 1903 the Grand Hotel Baglioni is a landmark of Florentine hospitality. Unfortunately the lobby and the congress center have been recently renovated in designer style to attract the modern traveller but the rooms remain a world apart. If you want a true step back in Florentine history this is the place to be. Get a deluxe unrenovated room to live a unique historical experience: bedrooms are pure Florentine style galore and boast original walnut doors and tall windows with leaded multicolored glass panes, intricated wooden floors that wonderfully creak at your steps, exquisite polished mahogany fitted furniture, ornate beamed high wooden ceilings, green velvet armchairs, brass lamps that create a unique atmosphere through the custom made lampshades. To furher enjoy your stay nice touches often forgotten in modern fourstar hotels like evening turndown service, free minibar and chocolate and customer satisfaction form left in your room the night before departure. The rooftop restaurant where breakfast is served every morning has floor to ceiling glass windows with breathtaking wiews of Santa Maria del Fiore cathedral. I hope you'll meet Pier Francesco the concierge who always welcomes me with the extra smile and makes me feel at home at every stay.

We loved this last year. The room was large. The staff lovely. The only thing was the restaurant which had a weekly menu. Very unusual for Italy. The roof top bar was great. The breakfast good but unusual scrambled egg, more like an omelette. The hotel ordered our taxi to the airport and it is a fixed price. Good to know.

Cool hotel close to city center. Awesome breakfast! Rooms are really old of course but could use updating, especially beds and pillows. Bar upstairs and outside area are beautiful but almost impossible to get service. Takes forever to get a drink. Some of the staff smell absolutely horrible! Guess that is normal in Europe. Close to train station and tram. Lots of restaurants nearby. Shopping nearby. They will call a taxi for you but they have an arrangement with the taxi service and start at 7 euro fee. The beds are absolutely horrible, like sleeping on cement.

We recently spent 3 nights at this hotel and we enjoyed our stay. The Hotel is in an excellent location, very close to major sights and so convenient for the railway station. It was our first visit to Florence and we really liked it - great fun to search for and find a Wine Window! It is a very stylish, elegant hotel and our room on the 4th Floor was very comfortable and it had the walk-in shower in the bathroom that I had requested. The complimentary mini-bar with soft drinks and snacks was a very nice feature. The air con was a little bit unpredicatable but reception staff were helpful in sorting this out. There are amazing views of Florence from the top floor bar and restaurant area. This was where the breakfast was served and whilst we enjoyed the views, we found the breakfast experience to be a little bit lacking. When we were there the Hotel was obviously busy with large groups of travellers and the atmosphere in the breakfast room was a bit manic. On our first morning our room number was taken and then we were left to work things out for ourselves. A very brief intro into how the breakfast room works would have been very helpful. We didn't realise until the last morning that there was the option to have some dishes cooked to order. The food choice was typical hotel buffet but the tables were slow to be cleared and it was disappointing to be moved from a table for four - the only clear table available - because we were just two. We visited the bar in the evening and were told we could have drinks but could only sit in a restricted area right next to the bar - so nowhere near the windows with the lovely views. It became apparent that the bar/restaurant was more focused on servicing private parties that were using the terrace/function rooms. Perhaps keeping some tables available for residents of the hotel would be a nice idea? We would have liked to have eaten in the Hotel restaurant but it was not promoted to guests in any way so we ate out each evening. The turn-down service on our final evening with the sweets and the questionnaire was a nice touch.

We had this hotel booked for three nights through our travel provider. Unique hotel near the city center so getting around was pretty easy. The room was extremely lacking. The one thing I look for in a hotel is a good nights rest after a long day of sight seeing. This hotel did not provide that and could do nothing to satisfy us. The bed was extremely hard to the point that you might as well sleep on the floor. I brought this to the attention of the front desk staff who told me I was not the first to complain about the bed but the beds were "new". It was so bad we looked for a different hotel even though we had already paid for this one but everything was sold out. Eventually we removed the mattress from the pull out sofa and put it on top of the bed's mattress and this helped. Stay away from this hotel if you need comfort!

Dear F623OVSkevinp I am very sorry to read your review and it is a shame to learn that your last stay did not reflect your legitimate expectations and that above all you were unable to rest, this is a great disappointment for us. What you reported will allow me to correct the answer you got from the reception, in fact we have soft toppers that can be placed on top of the mattress to make it softer for those who don't like hard mattresses. Please accept my most sincere apologies and send you my warmest regards.

The hotel is in an excellent location our room was clean and well appointed albeit we were given a twin when we had booked a double. On complaining to our tour operator the hotel offered to change it but we declined having already unpacked and were only staying for three nights. Visitors to this hotel need to be aware that whilst they market it on their fabulous rooftop restaurant and terraces this is booked out to non residents months in advance with no alternative provision made for guests to dine at the hotel reducing it to a glorified B & B. They could not manage a table for 2 on any of the three nights of our stay. Similarly in the evening the roof terrace and piano bar were hired out for a private party with minimal provision for hotel guests. We were made to feel most unwelcome by the hotel staff. We sat at one of the only 4 tables set aside for hotel guests (The only one vacant when we arrived) but were told in a very unfriendly manner by a member of the bar staff that we would not be served at that table as it was for six people and there were only two of us. The buffet breakfast was adequate but again let down by poor staff training on arrival they took our room number and that was it. No attempt to show us to a vacant table or explain how their buffet worked I am used to a waiter at least taking and delivering a drinks order but at this hotel you just have to find your own way. Half way through breakfast on one morning a number of staff appeared but only to prepare tables for the lunchtime service. Tables to either side of us were cleaned disinfected and polished with very pungent spray on materials that were so close to us we could taste it, it was terrible but again the staff were only concerned with non resident guests attending a lunch function. We sought advice and assistance from the reception staff on the ticketing arrangements to visit the Cathedral and Dome as we had heard these were very busy. The reception staff told us no need to book just make the 5 minute walk to the site and all will be ok. On arriving at the Cathedral we found two queues one short for those with pre-booked tickets the other 45 to 60 minutes which we had to join thanks to the bad advice. We then tried to visit the Cathedral dome - Timed Tickets Only well done Baglioni we missed it thanks to your poor staff. In short if you are looking for somewhere central to sleep that is clean your OK at this hotel? Otherwise find somewhere that has well trained polite and helpful staff that actually focus on their guests, We raised all of these complaints with the hotel at the time of our stay - they left a bowl of fruit in our room with an anonymous apology do they really think that helps? Dear Chris, I read your review with deep regret as it is clear that we failed to make your stay a pleasant one. I have carefully read your detailed review and would like to apologise on behalf of myself and the entire staff if your legitimate expectations were disappointed. What is regrettable is to learn that the kindness of our staff, which we value in particular and which has been pointed out in many other reviews, just failed. Your reports will be very importance as they will allow us to intervene and correct behaviour such as the one you mentioned. Once again, I send you my sincerest apologies and cordial greetings.

This was our 2nd of 4 hotels in Italy. It is a magnificent old hotel - Since 3 of us were sharing a room, we had a jr suite with 2 twins and a large sofa bed. Our room had beautiful wood ceilings. Only slight downside, was it was a very long walk to the elevators and had 6 stairs, a little challenging with our luggage, but otherwise fine. This hotel also has a roof top restaurant and bar, with great views of the Duomo. We had spectacular views while eating breakfast ( included with our room) every morning. The hotel was very clean, and very close to the train. Just outside the lobby was a ramp going underground to the station. Also only a short walk to the Duomo. Had a great stay and would most certainly recommend!
