From the moment we walked through the door, Enrico greeted us and made us feel like we’d just arrived at our home for the next 10 days. The room was spectacular and had a spacious balcony overlooking the courtyard. The hotel is in a very nice residential area of Firenze and an easy walk to the Ponte Vecchio, restaurants, shopping , museums, and the historical sites in Firenze. All the staff at Palazzo Montebello were very kind and helpful. Housekeeping was very prompt in keeping our room and linens fresh and did an excellent job. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet every day and the dining room staff was so helpful, polite and catered to all our needs. One morning my wife was not feeling well and when I went down to the buffet, Ada, one of the wonderful servers, asked if my wife would be coming down. I explained that she did not feel well and Ada, without my requesting it, prepared a tray to take back to our room with fresh orange juice and the buffet items which she knew my wife liked. My wife and I just finished a 4 night stay. The Palazzo Montebello is everything a luxury hotel should be. It is spacious, elegant and blissfully quiet. Our room was a fabulous small suite consisting of a sitting room with a spacious built-in desk, a perfectly sized bedroom, a dressing area and a double-sink bath. We were completely comfortable. The highest praise however goes to the hotel’s staff. They were always poised, professional, and gracious — a true pleasure to deal with. And they were extraordinarily helpful in helping us receive an important package from home that got caught in Italian customs — their efforts were above and beyond and we are forever grateful to them. We stayed at this beautiful hotel for 14 days and loved the experience! The staff from top to bottom were first class and treated everyone as a special customer. The hotel was beautiful - exceptional even. Our room was large and very comfortable - EXCEPT - for some housekeeping issues. Our shower had two glass panels which hung from a rail at the top and fitted into a grooved track at the base. However, one of the glass panels was not fitted at the base so if you accidently fell or even brushed against it, it immediately gave way. It would not have taken much to crash through the panel and end up cut and bleeding on the floor. Very dangerous. Also a towel nob in the wall was loose and fell off the wall, just missed my foot. And lastly, the room safe was at the bottom of the closet, and small, so we had to get down on the floor to even see or open the safe. All of this was reported to the hotel. Meanwhile our friends traveling with us were given a room with a very strange combination shower and splash tub - neither of which was functional. They requested another room with a regualr shower - no tub please - and were given a high step in tub. Other than the above issues, the staff at the front desk were wonderful, and we especially enjoyed Leonardo in the bar/dining area. The location was nice as well - but not exceptional. …

Our stay with the hotel was fantastic. We booked it through Ariana and Friends and had a wonderful stay. The food, the service, the accommodations were excellent. Warning, however, regarding having the hotel book transportation for you. We booked a van to take us to the train station upon departure (the hotel arranged it ahead of our trip). The train station is a five minute ride from the hotel, the driver instead took us for a 10 minute ride and the cost of the transportation was EU$ 75.

The hotel isn’t too far from the train station and a little hike to The Cathedral of Florence (Santa Maria del Fiore). The staff was excellent and they were extremely helpful arranging a taxi to the train station and recommending a wonderful restaurant.

This hotel is an absolute treat! From beginning to end the staff are amazing-especially at the reception desk. Friendly and unbelievably helpful. Did our tour bookings with advice on how to use the transport to and fro. The dining was excellent.. delicious breakfasts every day. This is NOT a 5 star hotel. Bathrooms are old, changeover missed (cups, towels). No cold water, no glasses to drink from. Old towels. There is no bar and the breakfast is a joke. Two badly cooked eggs half a sausage and 3 mushrooms. Nothing close to a 5 star hotel. People should consider. The location is not bad but the hotel is either run down or forgotten. Unpleasant front desk.

Stunningly elegant and centrally located hotel - or rather a genuine palace that is bound to cater to sophisticated aesthetics. Beds were comfortable, room interior - pretty unique and opulent. On a rainy day marble floor can be slightly slippery.
