I stayed here for 2 nights on 22 and 23 july 2013. I travelled around Italy by train so the hotel for me was extremely convenient literally being 1 minute across the road from Florence Santa Maria Novella station. The hotel is extremely central to all the sights of Central Florence. The San Lorenzo markets are five minutes walk. The...

Our friends in Italy helped us found this hotel. It's newly renovated. Everything is clean and new. The location is amazing. Close to everything and right across the street from the train station. We enjoyed the breakfast buffet, lots of selection and the waiter/waitress was friendly. Front desk and service was not very professional in general. They seems not care...

Dear Faithandhope20, thank you for the time you have taken to review our hotel. I would like to thank you for the positive comments that you have written. I do apoligize however if the hotel's staff appeared anything less than fully professional. I am not aware if there was any particular situation in the days of your stay but this...

This hotel was in a great location--easy to walk to various sights. The room was very modern in decor and was much larger than most of the hotel rooms in Italy. It was very clean. Wifi available in individual rooms. The view out the window was nothing to speak of (overlooked the bus terminal) but we didn't spend any time...

.I booked a suite for our honeymoon as we were only staying one night and thought we would splash out, the pictures of the suites on the hotel website appear to be quite large with a sofa and table and chairs with room to move around, exactly what you would expect from a suite. I stayed at this hotel while on a Trafalgar Tour of Italy. Dear Patty G, I am sorry for the inconveniences that you have met during your stay in our hotel. We believe every opinion, be it positive or negative, is important. The smell that you describe as chemical was probably a cleaner that was used to clean the glass of the reception. Unfortunately the dates of your stay are not marked...

Dear Brent E thank you for your kind review of our hotel. The tea making facilities in the room are available only on request and only in our superior rooms. Right next to train station and a quick walk to Santa Maria Novella- great for landmarking when wandering Florence. Hotel is a brisk 10 min walk to the center of town and a leisurely 15-20 min to Ponte Vecchio. Fairly modern decor. Great bar service.

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
