First the pros: This hotel is just one block away from Arno River, and about 10-minute walk to Santa Maria Novella Station. From these, you can have easy access to some good locations in Florence. The staff (at least the guy at the reception) was friendly; the breakfast, although not excellent, would pass. Wifi is also good; not very fast,... More

We only stayed one night and that enough. Bathroom was tiny (not the cleanest) and difficult to actually function with 2 people- water leaked over over the floor during the night so had to use all the towels to keep the floor dry. Room has no air cond and over looks onto another balcony which is not appealing. Also with... More

We stayed for 1 night at Hotel Magenta. The hotel is very nice, the room spacious, clean an quiet. It is located about 10 minutes from the railway station and 15 minutes from the center of the city, the area felt safe. They also had a very good and rich breakfast, with a lot of good pastries. After check-out we... More

We stayed there 5 days and really enjoyed the location for seeing Florence. The owner and her staff were very helpful in helping us find great food and interesting sights. Breakfast was very nice too with a lot of choices. We would stay there again.

Location is fine which is within walking distance from Santa Maria Novella train station and other attractions. The single room is small and the shower is tiny even for Europe standard. WiFi didn't work even after it was rebooted by the front desk staff. Breakfast was included in the room rate. I would have preferred to have breakfast somewhere else... More

Hotel is situated near the Arno, so you are within walking distance of most things in Florence. It's not fancy, but it's a nice place to stay. Great host, Sabina, who also does guided tours. She knows her Florence having been here for many years.

Stayed here for two nights; our room was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean; the bathroom was compact but this was fine - it was also spotlessly clean. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel's location is perfect, a short (10-12 minute) walk into the city centre but it was good to be staying... More

We completely enjoyed our stay. The room was very spacious for Europe. The room was very clean and the bed comfortable. The staff is friendly and accommodating. The only negative is the king size bed is actually two doubles.

We were greeted by the most wonderful lady! We've been to Florence many times and most hotels seem expensive. It was very easy to get to. This was a basic hotel, clean, excellent secured parking, the foam mattress was comfy. The location wasn't bad, it took about 10 minutes for us to walk to the Uffizzi. The cot was definitely... Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
