Chose this hotel based on reviews- not sure why it’s 4 stars - in reality deserves max 3 stars but for the attitude of employees there - zero stars . As we arrived to check in at front desk was a female named Vanni who not only didn’t say hello till we did - she was nasty and rude in her attitude This is word to word without a hint of pleasantness or smile “name, passports, and list went on....and behind her 4 interns in blue suits lined up without any kind of welcome or smile or even hello - all that made you feel like you are interrogated This first impression and hotel staff attitude at our arrival ruined the whole stay in Florence . We travel to Italy every year and never in all our 20+ years of travel had such nasty experience Then the woman Again in same clipped tone said; drinks here; breakfast there ... all behind that desk it was our anniversary and attitude of these workers totally ruined it An intern girl took us to the room and - well the room was smelling of mold and sheets we’re damp and smelly ; inside the room was no light from outside . By the way the whole hotel lobby also smelled moldy . Breakfast - ordered Caffe Americano - got the most disgusting watery brew that even not served anyplace and when I mentioned to waitress - she said “ u asked for American coffeee so you got coffee from drip machine “ I’ve been ordering caffe Americano at every breakfast thru out allplaces we stayed and never got the brew this place served The hotel without attitude should be rated 3 stars but with such unfriendly hostile mean attitude deserves zero stars .

We live in Italy and travel a lot and have been to many European hotels. Hotel Balestri is top notch and our go to Hotel in Florence. The rooms are well appointed, modern amenities and much larger than regular European hotel rooms. The staff is always very pleasant and accommodating- from the front desk clerks, to the porter, the breakfast staff to the manager. We could not ask for more. A super breakfast tops off the list of great things about Balestri. If you couple all this with being right on the river and views of the Duomo on the other side, it really can’t be beat. Right near the Uffizzi and great restaurants nearby, safe and walkable to everywhere you might want to go. If, by chance, you are driving..they take your car to park it and the hotel is very easy to get to without navigating the ZTL. We will only stay at the Balestri when we are in Florence!!!!! Fabulous stay as always!!

We arrived early and the room was ready within 10 minutes. The receptionist booked us tickets for LAccademia Gallery while we were waiting. Had a first floor room with a balcony. When we returned to our room the first evening the bed had been turned down, slippers left out for us, and sweets on the pillow. Location is perfect - 1 minute walk from Uffiza Gallery, 2 minutes from Ponte Vecchia and close to the Duomo etc. Also next to the river, so not a lot of noise Breakfast was lovely, lots of choice and staff attentive with providing coffee etc

The hotel is an excellent base for a visit to the city. Close to the historic areas of Florence but also a great place to escape to from the tourist crowds. Lovely views of the Arno a few hundred yards from the Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi etc. The staff are exceptionally helpful and the rooms well appointed and very comfortable. The buffet breakfast gives you a great start to the day . There are also tea and coffee facilities in the rooms. Highly recommended.

Stayed here a few days with my husband. Great location, no need for a vehicle. You're within walking distance to the Arno river, piazza, duomo, shops and restaurants. Hotel itself is impeccably clean and up to date, great breakfast and staff. Would def stay again.
