Definitely a 3 star hotel but clean rooms that have been recently redone. They have an elevators which is nice after a long day. Continental breakfast was good. Booked on Expedia and did not get the roll away but if you ask and only if you insist they will accommodate for $25 as listed on Expedia. It is 1 block... More

Great location, very close to the river Arno, about a 10 minute walk alongside the Arno which brings you to the Ponte Vecchio, which is the centre of Florence, so most of the tourist sites are within a 20-30 minute walk from there. I stayed in 2 rooms, I originally booked the single room, but when I arrived the room... More

When entering the door at the hotel it looks pretty bad, but then you go up to the main floor where the lobby is and it's really nice. The room have real character. The beds weren't bad the room was clean. The water pressure in the shower was great. Really nice experience.

Stayed here with my wife and daughter. The staff were friendly enough and the breakfast was good but the room was small and HOT. Couldn't run the air con to cool it down because apparently they don't run it until it gets warmer. Great to know they put their customers first! Only option was to open the window but that... More

We were supposed to spend our last two nights in Italy at an Airbnb location but my parter got terribly sick and the Airbnb we'd chosen had a very late check in so, out of desperation, we just picked this hotel. It was a happy accident that we did- the rooms are clean and quiet, the heating works well, the... More

Great location with everything in Florence in walking distance. Room was big for a city hotel. Breakfast was included and had a good selection. Hotel staff spoke good English and were very friendly. Would recommend.

We only stayed here for two nights. We arrived by train and this was conveniently close to the terminal. It was also an easy walk to the main center of Florence. The rooms were fairly basic and breakfast was standard. The wifi worked well in our room. We didn't really interact with the staff much but they would try to... More

Good size room and great location, but fridge broken, toilet seat broken, shower head broken and incredibly rude and poor service from the hotel manager. The air con did work and their breakfast was pretty standard for Italy. The wifi wouldn't work in my room and I had to sit in the foyer. Won't be back, you can do better... More

So if your expecting a 5 star hotel... this is not for you. it is basic and clean. Definitely not upto the standards like best westin. Staff are extremely polite an helpful, rooms were cleaned and tidied to a high standard, and breakfast selection was good. If you factor in the price , location, cleanliness and friendliness of the staff... More

Had a terrible time finding this place and had to park a few blocks away and looked quite haggard by the time we checked into the hotel. Our hosts immediately offered us cold water and helped us with our luggage. Our room was fairly small - our hosts put us in a larger room the next day for a very... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
