This could be a great hotel, it is very old and has charm but has NOT been kept up to a acceptable standard by any means. PLEASE note the elevators do not stop on the floor but on the stairway, so you will be lugging your luggage up flights of stairs. It is over 40 steps to the elevator that...

Dear Guests, We are deeply sorry reading about your dissatisfaction above all because there are some misunderstandings which we wish to clarify. The elevator stops on the floor level at the second and third floors, for the first floor and the fourth one it stops on the staircase and then there are some stairs to make: this is because the...

We stayed there 5 night in Rome. We got the presidential room which was beautiful. The hotel is centrally located to train station and all major attractions. Our only complain about the room is the following, our AC didnot work at all, granted the room was huge but you would think they would check important things such as the AC...

Dear Guests, first of all we thank you for your kind review. We are deeply sorry about the air conditioning problem: in Florence we usually start the air conditioning systems beginning of May: normally we need a couple of weeks to get the general system working at its best. Sometimes temperatures become suddenly very high and the system need more...

Stayed for 5 nights late May to early June. The hotel has lots of charm, being located in two Palazzos which preserve many of their original features including some frescoed ceilings. The location is ideal for tourists, being an easy walk from the railway and bus stations and the main sights. Desk staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet...

I spent 5 days at this hotel and LOVED it! It was the best hotel of my entire trip! I found the hotel filled with "old world" charm, but still, not as charming as the front desk staff, they were very helpful through out my stay. My room was small, but very clean and unique in it's layout and furnishings....

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
