The hotel is currently conveniently located to all sites, great plaza area across the street. Pool area was clean and my kids enjoyed swimming. Food was good. Breakfast was a bit chaotic due to size of area and they would not allow dining on patio. Our room was large and comfortable. They also assisted us with a babysitter. We would... More

The Croce was once a Convent and, while sitting with a coffee in the early Tuscan Sun, I imagined their washing billowing in the courtyard (don't judge; I'm only talking wimples and bed linen) where now lies a swimming pool, outdoor dining and general lounging area. It is an old building with much to offer in the decor and tasteful... More

We booked this hotel last minute after deciding to leave our previous hotel due to massive disappointment, and not only did it save our holiday it made our Florence experience. To start it is a great location, all the main attractions are walking distance. The staff are amazing, literally the best hotel staff I have come across in a very... More

Not too far to main attractions and close to restaurants and train station. The room was very clean and comfortable breakfast was good. Staff were friendly. Decor is quite 70's but the basics are covered. We loved the pool since it provided a nice break to our young child from visiting museums and attractions. Will stay there again.

Stayed here for two nights after a wedding in Tuscany. The hotel is positioned close to the action but far enough away that it's out of the madness. The swimming pool is a great feature and I spent a few hours down by it doing work during our stay. Room was on two levels and had two bathrooms in it.... More

This was a beautiful hotel.the rooms were spacious with large wardrobes and a really comfortable bed.The bathroom was medium sized but was perfectly suitable for two or more people.I loved the tuscan design of the hotel.it added to the atmosphere and I felt like I was staying in a tuscan country lodge with my own garden and pool.the pool and... We ended up staying here by accident as the booking we thought we had at another Hotel didn't happen. Our agent gave us a few options over the phone, we had a look at a photo or two and said this will do. We were pleasantly surprised when we arrived. The staff at reception were friendly and check in was... More

Great location for visiting Florence. Really wonderful friendly reception staff when arriving earlier than expected, nothing was too much trouble, especially as they were parking the car on our behalf. Decor was reminiscent of a Sean Connery James Bond film but fantastic if you like that. Very clean, but decor a bit tired. We heard a toilet flushing, which seemed... More

We recently had a two night stay and our first impression was good. We paid for a superior room with a garden/pool view. Our room was large with a mezzanine floor. Downstairs we had a sofa and bathroom with bath and WC. There was a tray with tea and coffee making facilities and a small fridge. We were very happy... More

There are several highlights of this charming, olde world hotel. It feels grand, it has a rooftop bar with a superb view over Florence, there is a pool and our room had a balcony overlooking the gardens. The facilities are all modern and up to date. It is minutes away from all the centrally located attractions and an easy walk... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
