The staff we're wonderful! The rooms were very basic, but clean. Old key card system which did not lock our door until I called the desk for assistance. Shower was very small, lots of water overflowing. Cold room with noisy a/c. Very small television. Noisy as we were on the road facing side. We will definitely not choose this for a... More

This hotel is a little gem - friendly staff who think ahead & make your visit run smoothly. Gorgeous former convent - my first trip to Florence & yes, I had a room with a view. Easy walking distance from all the major sights & short walk from the railway station where the airport bus drops off. If I had... More

This is a very well located hotel. Very traditional in the positive sense and with very interesting features like the swimming pool and the top floor bar with great views. Rooms are decent but not great and breakfast is fairly poor. It is quite expensive for what it is but due to location and traditions I would give it a... More

This hotel is close to everything - short walk to the major sites (if you don't walk in circles like we did). The hotel staff was very helpful, speaking English fluently, checked train time tables for us, etc. the room was smallish (old building remodeled, so to be expected), but the bed was very comfortable and we got great sleep.... Spent 2 nights at this hotel and it was a very pleasant experience. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. Rooms very spacious and although dated were very clean. Very nice breakfast layout. Rooftop bar was a big plus for an evening drinks and meals in the peak times. Lovely relaxing pool area with lovely garden area. Only minus I... More

Central location. Lovely rooms over 2 floors. Staff excellent. Swimming pool is smaller than it looks on the photos and not a great deal of room to sunbath ( however this hotel is right in the heart of the city so space is limited) Rooftop terrace great for relaxing to the sunset- only downside is it's only open from 6-8pm

We were so pleased with this lovely hotel. We were lucky to have a balcony overlooking the pool, a decent size room, tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The rooftop terrace is beautiful. A fantastic view and the bar is open in the evening. It is in a great location near the main sights and the station. I would recommend this... More

My husband and I recently enjoyed a 3 night stay in a junior suite at this very conveniently located hotel. A 10 minute walk from the train station and there we were, opposite a couple of convenience stores in a comfortable pleasant property. Our room had lounge facilities downstairs with bar fridge (but no tea or coffee making facility) with... More

Large comfortable bedroom with balcony from which you could see the swimming pool. Hotel well situated for the station, all the central city sights and several excellent eating places. Good choice of breakfast but could do with providing better coffee and boiling hot water for making tea. Swimming pool was an added extra as was the roof top bar. Wonderful... More

Staying in Santa Maria Novella

Neighborhood Profile
Santa Maria Novella
Santa Maria Novella train station welcomes the majority of the people arriving in Florence, which might explain the hectic pace. Commuters and tourists come across the constant hustle and bustle of the station before exiting, taking a few steps and stopping amazed in Piazza di Santa Maria Novella. It is impossible not to admire the the square, housing one of the most charming basilicas in Florence. The area has plenty of local spots to taste Tuscan specialties, but don’t stop in the main streets alone; the narrower side streets always ensure satisfaction. The huge Parco Delle Cascine provides a solution to the need for a green area as well as a historic welcome in the form of a bronze statue of King Vittorio Emanuele II riding a horse.
