Unfortunately our timing for visiting Florence couldn't have been worse. We arrived as Covid 19 was escalating quickly in Northern Italy. BUT, we were so fortunate to stay in the Hotel de la Ville. The staff was. incredibly friendly and so helpful. In spite of the circumstances, the staff always had a smile for us. Our accommodations were beautiful, clean and spacious. The morning breakfast was very good. The hotel is within steps of the shopping district, and just a block from the Duomo.
The Hotel De La Ville was an excellent 2-night stay for our family of four in June 2019. Located three blocks from the Duomo, a 15-minute walk from the train station and virtually everything else you want to see in Florence is assessable on foot. The rooms are huge compared to others in Europe or America, the beds were very comfortable, the bathrooms classically modern, and the whole place well appointed and truly a value for the price point. The restaurant was superb! The food was excellent, and the service outstanding. The front desk was top shelf, and very helpful! We highly recommend this hotel to families and friends that are visiting Florence. You can do everything on foot from this location and you get great value for the price. We look forward to our return!
This hotel is located in a great area and is a throw back to earlier times...think Breakfast at Tiffany's...and wonderfully elegant in every way. Extremely clean rooms and bathrooms, professional and cordial staff, lovely breakfast and a charming happy hour make this hotel a place to stay. It's not the Four Seasons but I loved everything about it. The rooms can be noisy due to street noise. Ask for a high floor or an interior room to avoid noise. We'll be back.
If you're going to Florence to shop and sight see, this is a great option for you. It's located in the heart of all where all of the designer shopping is and it's easy to walk to all of the great tourist sites from here. On the plus side, they do offer valet/parking which is great because you can't drive in most of Florence, but by parking with the hotel you won't get ticketed for driving there. They have a lovely happy hour/aperitivo service as well. The only downside is the rooms are a bit on the small side and dated in the decor, but it fits the style of the hotel. We got our rooms with breakfast included which was a great plus. I had a room facing inward to a courtyard so it just had frost on the window so there was nothing to look at. I would ask for a room facing out to the street next time.…
I was sad that I ignored all the reviews about the air temperature in the rooms. Your options are hot and hotter. The bellman was nice enough to open a window but as the other reviews have stated it’s really noisy outside. The “happy hour “ was riddled with children double dipping. When we chose to not do the free food and order instead the bartender seemed overwhelmed ( as he should have been given management only assigned him . The cheese plate was like I would have made from Kroger ... nothing exciting. On the plus side 70 euros will get you a nice wine . The rooms are spacious with no coffee maker . The location is great but the fact that it’s too hot or too loud to sleep makes this hotel a no for me. The previous reviews said they were rude about it .. I didn’t experience that. …
